While we are still being paid (thanks to a last second bill) the biggest thing we've noticed over here is Armed Forces Network has shut down all but two of the channels. I know it isn't anywhere near services being denied, furloughed jobs, but a big way to count the time down is Sunday to Sunday when we watch football, which can make the months go by a little bit faster. Money and personnel hasn't been an issue in country per say (at least not related to the shut down), but the question is lingering about how replacements are going to come in and if they will be on time, or will personnel here who are supposed to rotate back be able to leave or be extended until this issue is resolved. Like I said, this one isn't a sob story, but thought I would share our personal experience from over here. My biggest concern right now is the debt ceiling right around the corner. That issue has the distinct possibility of wiping out my retirement investments.

Wish I could be trying it out with all of you...about 30 days and I should be home (give or take). Fire up the new system that is waiting, load everything up and get back to having some good time with the idiots!

Just finished my new rig (unfortunately wont be home from deployment for until beginning of November to test it out) Specs: Thermaltake Chaser A31 Gaming Case - Blue Intel i5 3570K @ 3.4 GHz w/ liquid cooling Gigabyte GA-Z77-HD3 MOBO 8 GB RipjawsX DDR3 1866 RAM EVGA GeForce GTX 760 Superclocked 600w PSU 1TB HD (although I am going to pick up a SSD for the OS once I get home) Now the question I have is the DDR3 1866 RAM was a free upgrade from 1600, but all the research I have done (after the fact unfortunately) says the GB MOBO is only rated up to 1600...so from what I can tell I am going to have to scrap the upgraded RAM for some slower sticks or scrap the MOBO for one that is rated up to 1866. Inputs on this conundrum...my PC skills are no where near most of you.

My only concern is with my new rig I opted for Win 7 (just not sold on 8 yet), but the newest version of DX will be "optimal" as they put it, with Win 8. Not sure what that is going to mean as far as playability goes, but my gut says it wont be that noticeable...if at all. Only time will tell I suppose. Let me know how the Beta goes all you Win 7 users...I wont be back in time to partake.

Had the wife order it for me a couple of days ago...I guess Origin doesn't accept orders from Afghanistan by proxy server. I suppose the fan base here isn't what it is in other parts of the world.

Well, my deployment tracker officially read "50.04%" this afternoon at work! Halfway done with this shit hole and back to modern civilization, the wife, the dogs, the soon to arrive son and playing some BF3/BF4 with the gang! Hope you all are doing well and are as pumped for BF4 as I am!

Anybody running the NVIDIA Geforce 760 2GB overclocked on their rig? Looking for some inputs/opinions. Thanks gang!

Congrats! Just like anything in life, there are the ups and downs. Im sure you've heard it a million times already, its worth all the work you put in. Never go to bed angry, and understand that you two are partners on a wild roller coaster ride, and it will be the best thing that's ever happened! best of luck and enjoy the day (it goes by too fast)

All, Prepping for a build, and looking for some input. Looking to get the biggest bang for my dollars, so in order to get the graphics card I want I was looking at going to an intel i5 processor instead of an i7. Anyone running or have input on the i5 4670k? Building this new computer mainly for BF 4, and unfortunately the specs aren't out yet. Just looking for any input my fellow idiots may have.

speaking of...any specifications released yet? Planning my build and want to make sure I can enjoy this game the way it is supposed to be.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes, means a lot! Cimon, wife already promised me I could build a new computer (may have had to trade a percentage of say in our baby's name to get said computer, which by the way we found out its going to be a BOY!), so I expect to be playing BF4 in Ultra (hopefully!) I will be coming to you guys for guidance because I've never built one before, but figure its about time I give it a whirl. Gotta learn sometime! Wish the connection here was good enough to hop on some games with you all, but for $90 USD, all I get is crappy 512mb wireless split god knows how many ways. Good enough for web browsing, and Skype during non-peak hours, but it is still a huge improvement from when I was in Iraq. Much love to my Idiots!

Hey Idiots! Just wanted to check in. A month and a half in, three and some change to go! Things are surprisingly quiet here, only a couple of small incidents. Hope all is well and can't wait to get back and start gaming again. Oh yea, as promised here is a pic...I am second from the right. This is the crew I work with, can't really go into specifics about job duties yet (Its nothing super secret squirrel or anything, just the rules), but once I get back I'll be allowed to say more (you guys/gals understand) Take care Idiots, miss you all!
