I bought a new computer last Monday and Tuesday the damn "Win 7 Antispyware" showed up and it took control of my machine, the only way I thought at the time was to purchase their product. NEVER do that, it will totally take control of everything and it will delete program files that you need to run. Like it deleted my winconfig file and luckily I had set a restore point before I installed anything. So I had to restore the computer to that point an start over. I always have my temporary files cache set to 8, which is the lowest it will go. I have it set for 0 days to be ket and also I have it set to delete all temporary files upon exit. You have to clean those files out to keep your machine from dogging down. Thanks Labob about this and the Java. I will check on that too. Isn't that the same as going to tools and then internet options? I couldn't find the way you mentioned above. OK. I hit Start and then typed in Java in Search and Right clicked on Java and the Java box came up. I then deleted the temporary internet files. I should of viewed them first, but I didn't. I did click the box to not keep temorary files.

The 20/24 pin connector is connected and so is the 4 pin cable. The hard drive is sata, the cd drives are still IDE, I just seen the flat cable and assumed the hard drive was IDE. I already have Microsoft Essentials installed. So I will create the restore point and just do it. I goggled it and I guess it could be a motherboard problem. I have never dealt with that before. I don't think it is even worth it once I get my info out of there. Thanks guys.

I had a hard disk failure and the computer was still under warranty so HP sent me a new hard drive. The computer wouldn't recognize the new hard drive so HP sent me a box and I sent the computer back and it will be two weeks before I get it back. This started on March 21st, so I started using my old computer and the power supply went out on it on the 28th. Well long story short I broke into my coin collection and bought a new computer on the 28th. On the 29th I caught a damn virus from a program called "Win 7 Antispyware". It took over my computer and the only way to get any access to anything was to purchase their damn product and then it fucked up everything. So I did a system restore, for some reason I made a restore point before I installed anything. So I am back up and running again. And I will have two brand new computers and an old one. (After I get the other one back) I sold the old one to my daughter thinking I would just replace the power supply and that would be that. The damn thing still doesn't power up. So does anyone have any suggestions? No lights come on at all and it doesn't even try to do anything. I hooked up everything right, that is a no brainer. Please help. If I can't get it to work, is there anyway I can retreive my info off of the hard drive. it is an IDE hard drive and my new computer is a SATA. Can I just plug it in to one of my IDE hook ups in my new computer as a temp second drive. As long as I make sure the BIOS is set right. I guess I can't because of the flat cable. Do they make a converter? It has 7 years of pics in there. I all ready lost the last 11 months of pics.

About 15 different titles. I used to play Civilization, Railroad Tycoon, Colonization, Leisurre Suit Larry, Monkey Island, And a bunch of other crappy games. The original Wolfenstein, now that was fun. But I found COD and XI so that is all I need.

I have tried just about everything now. And nothing works, I guess I will just have to send it off and let HP deal with it. At least that is all free, just time consuming. I wish they would pay to have someone come out and fix it. I am going to miss my Black Ops maps, damn it. Thanks for the help. And I did get to back up everything.

I just tried changing cables around, CD to HD and vice versa, no luck and I broke the metal thing that holds the cable in. It came off, so I am just going to let them fix the damn thing and just wait. To much of a pain in the ass. Thanks for the input Gump. I appreciate it. I even checked the Windows 7 forums and no luck.

It will show once in awhile on the bios. But when you exit the bios it freezes. I can't check it with this computer because this one is IDE. Damn, I think I got it when it shows up, but then I don't. So I don't know if maybe it will try to do recovery eventually or not. I wish. It just showed up on a black screen and I hit F1 to continue and then it went into the BIOS and it was there. But I put the CD in and the it freezes, I took the CD out and it still freezes and just goes to the hp blue screen that just shows the the F9, F10, F4 options. So I don't know. Yes I do hear spin up, but not every time. Thanks Gump, Hey why don't you become a member?

I took the cables off and put them back on and I did try the recovery disc. It just says to put a disc in and push any key. And the bios is set for disc. One other thing that I forgot to mention is that on the original hard drive, the computer would run for about 20 minutes at a time and I could do my normal stuff, but then it would give the failure error again, is that normal? Also I did get the original HD to do the recovery and it went through all of the stuff and it said, starting your computer for first use, I went through all of the motions and then after about 20 minutes it stopped and wouldn't respond at all then. Is that a normal thing that when a HD is going out, it will come on for a littlke while and then quit? I have never dealt with this before.

Damn Crack, I am not even going there. Good one Ferret. I never meant this to be a political rant, but I guess it is. In my personal opinion we should do away with all political parties. And just do a general election where the best man wins, period. No primaries. No bs, just simple elections. Of course there would probably be some added bs, that I can't think of. Could you imagine how many billions of dollars would be saved and how much more would get done. Congress spends most of its time bickering about taking sides and having enough of one side to make a vote pass. And they spend all of this time trying to make bills and such and then they don't get passed because of one side or the other. So all of that time was wasted. When old man bush was president, he vetoed every bill but one. it was like 141 -1. What a waste, just because the Democrats controlled congress. He only signed one fucking bill the whole time he was in office. I always vote for the person that I like the most, but maybe I should vote for one party or the other and maybe something more would get done, if one side had complete control. But then we would all be fucked. I am neither democrat or republican. I don't feel one is better than the other. They are both fucked up. It is just who's bs you cave in to. \One other thing that I hate is combining bills into one and only that bill gets a congressional vote. Then if someone votes for or againest that, then the media plays for or againest them. Even though the person voted the way they did because they didn't like the tag along bills. That is why someome will say that someone else voted the way they did for the main bill, when reality that person didn't like the other smaller bills. Like the Democrats wouldn't even pass their own health care bill, that is because the Republicans put in a bunch of smaller bills that the Democrats didn't like. (just an example, not even sure if it is true). Each bill should have it's own vote. And yes they would have the time if we didn't have political parties. It is just frustrating. That is why I rarely watch the news. Shit is always the same just the names and places have changed. And why should a news company or even newspapers endorse candidates? Shouldn't they be telling us the truth, instead of how they want us to think. God damn, this is a never ending rant, so I will shut up. Someone can move it to the Political forum if they want.

My Hard Drive went out on Monday. A message came up and said hard drive failure is imminent, please back up your hd. So I did that, and called HP and they determined I needed a new HD. So on Wednesday they sent me a new hd and the bios wouldn't recognize the new hd. They are both the same, western digital sata 1 tb. Factory settings (no jumpers). I changed the bios to boot from disc as the new hd is clean. But for some reason the bios will not recognize the drive. It recognizes the CD drive. I tried switching cables with the CD drive and it still won't recognize the hd. I don't what else to do. It did recognize it for a few minutes but that was it. It is still under warranty and Monday they are going to ship me a box to ship it back to hp. Anybody have any suggestions? They did send me recovery discs. That is what I am supposed to boot from. But if it doesn't recognize the drive then the discs won't work. I figure some of you don't like HP but I have had several of their computers and I have never had a serious problem. And I have never had a Hard Drive go bad in nearly 20 years on any computer. I think it is a motherboard problem. I don't know.

I just had never heard of this before. I new the president keeps his pay and rightly so. If you like the guy or not that position deserves that much respect. I don't think anybody else should get full pay. Shit I gave them enough money in my lifetime, I shoudn't have to fight just to have SSI disability.

No one has been able to explain to me why young men and women serve in the U.S. Military for 20 years, risking their lives protecting freedom, and only get 50% of their pay. While politicians hold their political positions in the safe confines of the capital, protected by these same men and women, and receive full pay retirement after serving one term. It just does not make any sense. Monday on Fox news they learned that the staffers of Congress family members are exempt from having to pay back student loans. This will get national attention if other news networks will broadcast it. When you add this to the below, just where will all of it stop? 35 States file lawsuit against the Federal Government Governors of 35 states have filed suit against the Federal Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon them. It only takes 38 (of the 50) States to convene a Constitutional Convention. This will take less than thirty seconds to read. If you agree, please pass it on. This is an idea that we should address. For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform... in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop. If each person that receives this will forward it on to 20 people, in three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message.. This is one proposal that really should be passed around. Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution: "Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States." On the topic of the Armed Forces receiving only half of their pay after 20 years of retirement, that is pretty standard in most government jobs. My son was married for 10 years and was in the Air Force, his wife was sleeping around whenever he was deployed. So he got a divorce and the judge said his exwife would receive half of his retirement if he stayed in for the 20 years. That is a crock of shit, at the most she should be entitled to half at the time of the divorce. Which would be 5 years. We need to take our government back. But I know for a fact if I was given a brand new Ford I would sell it and buy a real truck. I would put my 3/4 ton 99 Chevy againest any other brand of 3/4 ton truck. You show me a Ford or Dodge that can do 35,000 lbs gross weight, that is the truck, trailer and the weight of the load, and I will shut up about Chevy's. It can't be done.

We worked our balls off and nobody bitched or complained, it was just something you did. They forgot My Mother the Car, with Dick Van Dyke or Adams Family. I remember most of the shows. Life was a lot simpler back then. I grew up in the 60's and 70's. We only got two channels. Then finally three. We didn't have color until like 1970. Sadesky you were lucky. At times we had rabbit ears and if you put tin foil on them they worked better. You really had simpler times, but you really had to fucking work to make a living. Every generation is getting lazier and lazier and the world is making them that way. Nobody knows what it was like to bust your balls for 12 or more hours a day so you could feed your family. I just quit doing that last year. No wonder I am in my condition now. I was born in 1958 and yes Johnny they still make Cracker Jacks and we have a store that you can get Sugar Daddy's, and Candy Cigerttes all kinds of nostalgic candies. Thanks Power, that brings back some good memories. I still record a few them off our satellite with 500 channels you don't watch and a 52" giant fucking COLOR tv with a stereo surround sound system. I don't agree that we should have to buy the maps, that is BS, but what the hell else can we do, when they force ours hands like this. I will still be on both servers, as soon as my damn good computer is fixed. I wouldn't even attempt to install BO on this POS. But it plays WAW2, my grandson uses this computer for it. Dual core. 250 gb HD, 512 ram.
