Short answer, no...I don't expect that my house is going to get broken into but I lock the doors every night as a precaution...It's the same reason I conceal carry, it's just a precaution (and also my right to do so)...
I wanted to mention too for all of the photographers here. Years ago I saw a interview with the curator of photography at the Smithsonian. She had brought up a point that has really stuck with me. She showed this picture of a young black child crying outside. A really nice photograph. She brought up the point that if it had been taken on a digital camera that the photographer probably would have erased it at the time thinking that it wasn't a good photo. Thus losing a part of that persons life and history through photography. After seeing that I never delete anything I shoot unless it is really bad as in completely out of focus are way out of the exposure range. I have found what she said to be true. Pictures I have shot thinking they sucked at the time look so much better and interesting at a later date. By that ends she pointed out that we are losing the real photographs that truly depict our lives and history.
