When I installed COD5 on my new computer it didn't automatically put icons on my desktop or in my program list. I have to put the disk in and play from the disk. I didn't have to do that before. Anybody have any suggestions. All of the other COD's did fine.

I tried to reinstall it but I didn't want to lose any maps or anything. It wants me to uninstall and try reinstalling it, how do you do that without losing maps. I am a dumb ass this month. Too many other distractions.

There is something about the bnk32 file not located or something, also.

Anybody up for a Crossloop and fix my ass.  I will let you see my man boobs. lmao. No that would scare you away

just create a shortcut on the desktop one of two ways

1. right click on the desktop and select create shortcut

in the "type location" select browse and browse to the application icon (Hacklehaus's path works for 7), if you are still old fashioned like me and using XP it will be

C:\program files\Activision\Call of Duty World at War\codwawMP.exe (not sure if that is the file - I dont have WaW installed in this laptop)

2. Navigate to the same file and right click and drag the file onto your desktop. When you let go select the option "create shortcut" and you are all set

Just make sure you select the MP file, not the SP file for the single player, unless that is what you want

Hope this helps

The file doesn't show up in CODWaW under Activision. Kind of strange to me. And I tried to play after I thought that I had all of the maps done on the downloader and I still had to wait for them to down load.

That is the common way to do a shortcut, but it isn't there.

I can't find the maps under activision either. I hope I don't have to reinstall them.

When uninstalling the game the uninstaller will only remove "stock" game files, any custom files will remain until you delete them manually.

That is good to know. Since it takes so long to down load all of the maps.

The program isn't there to get the icons from. I know they should be but they aren't there. I have to play from disc.

Maybe I should unistall and reinstall.

Type CoDWaWmp into the search box. After it shows in the field above, hover over it with your courser and it will display the path.

Should be in (C:)/ProgramFiles(86)/Activision/Call of Duty-World at War (with UAC off)

Thanks Rockape and to all of you. I just needed to be pointed in the right direction.

Things were not where I expected them to be.

I think we have it now. Great job on the help.
