Hello Everyone

I am having a problem when connecting to the COD2 DM server using Xfire. For some reason I lose all of my settings including my name. This does not occur when I log straight into the server from the game itself. What am I missing? Can someone assist?

Thank you :-)

A better way to connect to our servers and also a way which will show you everybody playing on all our servers (at least any server you enter IP address for) is to download and install a thing called HSLW lots of us use it here, much easier way of connecting then XFire

Wild guess I would say you both use Windows 7 with User Account Control (UAC) enabled,

Xfire requires elevated administrator permissions to run (The small yellow box that appears asking for permissions when you start xfire), so this means that any program that is started/spawned by xfire will also inherit the administrator permissions when run,

This is why you lose your settings because when you run a program as an Administrator, it doesn't use the same directory on your PC to store/read settings files, so as far as te game is concerned, you have no settings,

Sadly, the only solution to this is to either turn off UAC in your account settings on your PC which is not really advisable because it's there for security reasons, or start the game by another method like HLSW or directly from your desktop shortcut,

Nope, sorry Joe. I'm just going to have to connect using a direct from game method. When I first started playing this game the XI server did not appear on my in game list, now it does for some reason.

I usually play COD2 using my Mac but when I want to use Xfire I need to use the Windows 7 section of my comp. Unfortunately there are now several maps that automatically kick me when I play on the Mac. It gets frustrating Cry
