Let's make an effort to enjoy and to celebrate our patron saint's feast day and do something English! Drink some English beer! Wear your favourite England football or rugby shirt! Rescue a damsel in distress! Most of all, do enjoy our unofficial national anthem that I present to you below; here are the lyrics if you would like to sing along (though true Englishmen will be unable to read them through the tears of pride by the second verse!). "And did those feet in ancient time.Walk upon England's mountains green:And was the holy Lamb of God,On England's pleasant pastures seen! And did the Countenance Divine,Shine forth upon our clouded hills? And was Jerusalem builded here,Among these dark Satanic Mills?Bring me my Bow of burning gold;Bring me my Arrows of desire:Bring me my Spear: O clouds unfold!Bring me my Chariot of fire!I will not cease from Mental Fight,Nor shall my Sword sleep in my hand:Till we have built Jerusalem,In England's green & pleasant Land" Jerusalem by William Blake, 1804. Note to those who have not been blessed to be English: England is one of the four countries comprising the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK). The name of the country is not interchangeable with "Great Britain" or "the UK". Due to historical differences of opinion, you risk causing great offence to citizens from UK countries outside England if you refer to them as "English". The appropriate way to describe someone from the UK, if you do not know with certainty that they are English, is as a "Briton". The flag of England is the Cross of Saint George (pictured above) and it is one of the constituent crosses in the Union Flag of the United Kingdom (the others being those of St Andrew and St Patrick). "England" did not exist until around a thousand years ago. Before then, there were numerous kingdoms here and the Vikings, from Scandinavia, shaped the country and its language with their occupation of the "Danelaw". It was last invaded and conquered in 1066 by the Normans - Norse warriors living in Northern France. http://youtu.be/-GLRNnEmwdU
 Awards

Might even open a pint of Fullers. You better appreciate it! From a Yankee Paddy. Even Brophy's were proud of the empire. DEEJAYKEG
