Refer the link: What are the system recovery options in Windows 7? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-are-the-system-recovery-options-in-Windows-7 he would still need his os win 7 disc...as it goes by product key each disc has its own and will only read the product key associated with its own disc....
