COD4 Server Crashing

Hi all,

 

We as a clan have recently started playing COD4 again after having a break for a while playing other games

 

I'm hoping that someone may be able to help with a little problem which is happening. Our server has been running fine using the OW2 mod (which we always used to use) but one of our members got a new pc the other week, installed the game, patches etc. Then last nite when he joined the server it crashed and went back to the 1st map in the mapcycle  This happened a few times, every time when he joined the server.

 

I have told him to reinstall the game from scratch again to see if this solves the problem, as yet I do not know if this has worked, but thought it worth a try.

 

 

I have never known or heard of this problem before, can anyone give me any ideas on how to solve it or why it could be happening ? I just cant see why the server would crash when a player joins it

 

Any help or assistance will be greatly appreciated.

So your saying that a player joins your server and it crashes and starts the rotation over ?

 

 

Best thing I can offer is 2 fold 

 

1 tell the player to delete the mod out of there main and redownload it 

2 put a ticket into the server host

 

 

I do not see how the player connecting would have any affect on the server crashing

I also can't think of any reason the server would do this when a player joins. I've ran SoF2, all the CoD's and BF servers and never come across this one.

 

I will see what happens after he has reinstalled the game, then DL'd the MOD again.

 

But it still doesn't make sense that a player joining brings the server down though lol

Yea have the player delete the mod and redownload and see what happens. Under normal operation I cant think of a circumstance where a player joining would crash the whole server for everybody. Someone might get something about commands being cycled out, normal on big mods, after downloading a new map or an overflow due to poor server-client connections but that shouldnt affect other players.

Ok thx Sammy, I think exactly the same as u about the server on one person crashing it for all, seen the other incidents u mentioned.

 

Will see what happens after he sorts the reinstall and I'll let you know if it sorts the problem out.

If it happens again try and save the console log before the server restarts and deletes it. Might be tricky if its an automatic restart. See if there are any script errors or something else. If so let me know.

Hi just a quick note to say the player in question has been away and not been online since I posted on here. So not had chance to speak to him or check if its now sorted. Will post once I know what the problem was :-)
