ok my car was towed about a month ago. the place that towed it said they put a sticker on it at request of the apartment complex because it was inoperable and that the inspection and registration was expired. the registration and inspection expired a couple of days prior to them towing it. they towed it apparently 10 days after putting a sticker on it. we never saw a sticker on it or any sign that there was a sticker on our car. the tow company is saying they have picture proof that there was a sticker on it and we have requested it every week since its been towed from the apartment manager that we receive a copy of the picture as advised by a cop we spoke to. both are refusing to show a picture and my wife and i do not know what to do about this. what are my options

Your options will depend on the conditions of your lease w/the landlord and local ordanaces...A trip to a lawyer would seem to be your best bet to sort it out...SmileSmile

Um, yeah and if the registration and inspection were both expired and the car had not been moved in X number of days, they could call it an abandoned vehicle, giving them the right to tow it.  Check out your local ordinances......I am not a lawyer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once.

most lawyers offer a free first time consultation with a minimum bit of free advice. That might be in your best interest. However, if the car was inoperable, as far as i know, the apartment manager has the right to remove it at their discretion, regardless of sticker. The chances are you may have to bite the bullet in the end and just pay the impound lot to get your car back, and then pay the tow company to move it either to a safer place to park it or a garage. I would hat to see that happen, but alot of times renters at apartment complexes gotta eat shit in the end. God knows i have enough in the past...and i still dont have a taste for eat, regardless how much i've had to eat. Good luck.

Yea that sucks and the crooks probably charge 50 bucks a day to hold it so you might have to decide if it's worth getting back or not.   Not sure the picture would make any difference but I'd want to see it too.

ya car wasnt inoperable. thing is reason they "put the sticker on it" and the reason for tow was expired tags... tags expired 2 days before they towed sticker was "put on" 8 days prior to them expiring
