They're having an airshow tomorrow about 15 miles north of where I am, and they use the small airport in back of my house for a staging area for the show. Took a walk over and snapped these pics a few minutes ago. The P51 took off just as I was arriving and I didn't get a shot, but it was beautiful.

JohnnyQuests' and Hans' posts are perfect examples of why the feds don't want it legal. They can't tax something that anybody can grow in a little corner of their home. The feds will lose access to all of those billions of dollars in tax money they currently steal to fight the drug war, and the prision system will lose billions they currently get paid to keep all of those drug offenders in prision. For them, keeping pot illegal is like a cash cow of unlimited money that will vanish overnight if it becomes legal, and powerful politicians that also make money from it will fight legalization until the bitter end.

Legal or not, employers won't tolerate stoned employees and the testing will continue. Over the years I had to fire a couple people for being drunk on the job, and alcohol is perfectly legal.

It will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple years. Here in California it's legal to grow a few plants for personal consumption, and there is little or no penalty for getting caught with small amounts. The medical aspect has been entirely shut down by the feds. We voted for legal medical use years ago, and the feds went after the dispensaries with a vengance and shut all of them down, including all of the growing operations. This even though Obama said before he was elected in 2008 that he would take a hands-off approach to the issue. The DEA and many law enforcement agencies stand to lose tens of billions in federal funding to fight the drug war. They won't go away quietly, and most of the very powerful politicians are in tight with those agencies. Kick your feet up, light a bowl and watch the fireworks. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

The small maps can be fun but with all weapons they're just a clusterfuck of spawn killing. I hit my highest score ever (250) on that wawa3 map, but even though I won the round it was just mindless spraying in every direction and not really much fun. There has to be a little challenge involved. Jumping clear of a spawn just so you can lay down and kill 20 people in 10 seconds as they spawn on top of one another is becoming way too common, and on some maps if certain spawn killers are playing on those maps I'll sit the round out. How about changing some of those maps to shotties and pistols with frags? Yes it will decrease some high scores but it makes life much more difficult for the spawn killers because of the slow reload.

Ok people, we've been deceived and badly. We're all here to game and have fun. I realize that many of us have friends here that we game with regularly, but we were all too willing to buy into the story and swallow it hook, line, and sinker. We've been burned before by a certain person collecting funds to help out another member and then keeping it. I for one am all too happy to help friends out, but we need to be smart about it. Trust me if I ever get cancer, the last place I would be whining about it is here. I have real family to lean on and while I appreciate everybody here, I wouldn't be playing the sympathy card with people I've never met face to face. We all share a passion for gaming and having fun. Bringing everybody down with personal problems goes against everything we're all here for. Ban them both, erase every single fucking post both of them has ever made on the web site, and put all of this bullshit behind us. Let's get back to what we all do best. GAME ON!

I've been playing COD2 on XI for a few years now, and in that time my ping started out between 50-60, the gradually increased to its usual 90-100. I've given up trying to figure out why. I did have AT&T DSL here in northern California and averaged 3.5 to 5 MBPS, then a few weeks ago switched to cable and my speed is now over 20 MBPS, and yet no change in my ping. I've taken the advice of other XI members, made changes to my setting, reasearched various web sites and still my ping stays the same. So a couple weeks ago I got a brand new Toshiba PC for my office, and yesterday installed COD2. This thing is state of the art with all the bells and whistles, and a really big screen. I have AT&T DSL at my office and it's running between 5 and 6 MBPS consistently. I was excited to see the graphics were much better than what I was used to and everything is finally working great. Then I go to look at the ping, and notice that it's about 110. I guess all of this boils down to that your ping rate has a lot more to do with your location than your settings. I'm sure tweaks can change it a little bit, but it's looking like where I am ultimately determines my ping, regardless of what type of broadband I use. I'm fine with it and can play, but I won't waste any more time trying to change something that obviously be changed.

What kills a person in a parachuting accident is extreme deceleration (hitting the ground). In a standing position hitting the ground or even water moving at 120+ mile per hour would break your legs like toothpicks as well as your spine and most of the bones in your body. Extreme acceleration works the same way. If a board under your feet propelled you from 0 to 120 MPH in a millisecond, the same damage to your legs and spine would occur. People who base jump (from a fixed building or structure) require a minimum of 500 feet in altitude for their chute to deploy properly. There is no way in Hell that guy could go 500 feet (50 stories) into the air from a fixed position on the end of a board and deploy a chute in 1 second. It's physically impossible on so many levels. But I'm guessing you already know all of this.
