  8. I need a new tricycle. Somebody stole my last one.
  9. The BLS has been fudging their numbers for years in order to make the unemployment rate seem lower than it actually is. Their methodology doesn't include people who have stopped looking for work, or have been unable to find work for very long periods of time. Most experts agree the actual rate is around 11.7%.
  10. Yeah, my daughters can throw out some real zingers too. At least they're good for some laughs in between wanting to kill them.
  11. Terry, I can almost hear your daughters applauding every time Obama speaks here in California. Tell them to hold it down.
  12. I hope your twins keep their nails trimmed.
  13. This is the type of knife I collect. Clovis culture, 9.000 to 15,000 years old from south/central California. This one is roughly 2,000 years old. It had a wooden or bone handle that has long since rotted away, but the tar they used to attach it to the handle remains. Also from south/central California.
  14. Thanks! Married 23 years this coming Sunday. She's a keeper and looks better than the day I married her.
  15. Oops, sorry. I didn't realize it was in the general section. Is this better?

  17. Never saw anything like it but another guess, because of the marlinspike, is that it may have been a sailors knife because the marlinspike figures prominently with tying rope and often used on tall ships. Since the ships also had cannons the brass and marlinspike would fit for an armed sailing vessel. That makes sense. I was thinking they might have used the spike to open kegs or bags of powder, but I guess any saiing ship with cannons would have to have been careful with fire and sparks.
  18. How are you guys with antique knives? I'm not really into knives but this one came to me as part of a large native american artifact collection. The maker mark is a simply "S" which I assume stands for Sheffield. It's all made of brass with a marlin spike on the end. I'm guessing it's a Civil War era artillery knife for guys who loaded gun powder into cannons since the brass would reduce the chance of a spark. Anybody?
  19. Here is some of what we catch in the San Francisco area. Ling Cod on the left, blue rock cod on the right, and my wife in the middle.
  20. My best thoughts are with you both.
  21. Wow, you work at a beer factory and collect arrowheads. Will you marry me? Welcome to XI.
  22. I wouldn't worry about it unless you use an Apple computer.
  23. lol ooops quoted the wrong one lol I am in Vancouver BC pal. yep im another Canadian the fish were caught just near Victoria, on Vancouver Island. Well that's good because if you were down here I was going to tell you that the tails aren't clipped and it's a $250 fine per fish. When you catch a sport-caught fish down here you must clip the end of the tail so it can't be sold. Too many freeking rules down here and not enough fish.
  24. Ok, what are we talking about again?
