  1. And that was the glorious spectacle of the Diamond Jubilee! I hope you got to enjoy it as much as we did here! My wife took me out to dinner tonight to close our celebrations. We dined on...Chicken Elizabeth! I'll leave you with the traditional Royal Marine music that accompanies the lowering of the flag at sunset... It is called..."Sunset"! God Bless Our Precious Queen!

  4. Well, what a memorable long weekend it has been but it is now drawing to a close. Public events today, after yesterday's concert outside the gates of Buckingham Palace, have included a service of thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral, a carriage procession and a flypast over the palace by the RAF in salute of our Queen. Unusually, there was also a feu de joie by the guards below the balcony. We now await Her Majesty's broadcast at 6pm, after which I shall bring in my Union Flag and go to a last celebratory dinner of this Diamond Jubilee. Long May She Reign!
  5. Beacons lit across the Commonwealth to celebrate the Queen's 60 years http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/the_queens_diamond_jubilee/9310215/Diamond-Jubilee-Beacons-lit-across-the-Commonwealth-to-celebrate-the-Queens-60-years.html We're hoping to be in attendance when the local one here is set ablaze at 10.15pm BST. God Save The Queen!
  6. Diamond Jubilee river pageant's rousing musical finale "The final vessel to reach Tower Bridge was Symphony, carrying members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal College of Music Chamber Choir. The singers got drenched by rain as they performed several songs to the Royal Family including Land Of Hope and Glory, Rule Britannia, and the national anthem." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18316899

  8. ONE BILLION people celebrate! Here's a taste of today's amazing spectacle in London! At the same time that the bells in that floating belfry began to ring, others around our country rang out too - here as well!
  9. The BBC mentioned that the coverage was going worldwide so I am delighted that you got to see this amazing spectacle. We were in front of the TV all afternoon - how fantastic was it!
  10. I think you will find that British use of the music for the anthem followed that in the USA!
  11. Channel 4 News: Pageant Skipper's "Nerves And Excitement" "The skipper of My Harmony - one of more than a thousand boats taking to the Thames for the Diamond Jubilee pageant - tells Channel 4 News he is nervous but "plans to have a ball"." 12. Daily Telegraph Video: Narrow boat crew won't let weather spoil their celebrations " The Shropshire Lad narrow boat has travelled from Lyneal Wharf, North Shropshire down the Llangollen Canal and all the way to the Thames in time for the Diamond Jubilee pageant. Manned by military personnel, some injured in Afghanistan, the boat has taken three weeks to reach its destination." Full article and video here: http://preview.tinyurl.com/7vwf5os
  13. Wishing you a wonderful day in that paradise!
  14. As a Roman Catholic Royalist, I see we'll get on just fine! LMAO! If you don't understand constitutional monarchy as a system of government, you will find plenty of books to educate you in the library. I would prefer this thread not to be hijacked into some theoretical and futile debate as to whether the kingdom should become a people's republic with a rich man, backed by business and special interest groups, at its head. The UK is a monarchy and so it shall remain. The republicans here are not having a good time - seems they are really in a minority and they don't like that! The big party is under way, the boats are getting into position and I am so excited about today's pageant on the River Thames (and I am not even in London!)! The Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant web site is here: http://www2.thamesdiamondjubileepageant.org/Default.aspx Two hours till it begins! 15. Kim Cattrall Kicks Off Diamond Jubilee with 'Great British Run' in Central Park (Yes, she may not sound like she is but she's a Brit too!) See: http://tv.ibtimes.com/kim-cattrall-kicks-off-diamond-jubilee-with-great-british-run-in-central-park/5878.html
  16. I suggest we wait for the official announcement about "Premium". The leaked details suggest an all-in price of $50/€50/£40 for all the DLC add-ons plus bonus stuff. The Close Quarters DLC code alone is advertised at £11.99 on amazon.co.uk so Premium would appear the cheaper option for those intending to buy everything. See: http://uk.ign.com/ar...premium-service
  17. I don't get it. It lets me play one round then insists I spectate. What's the deal? I'd managed to rank up but it wouldn't even let me choose Infantry as a class to play.
  18. I would have thought someone might have tapped those seated during the national anthem on the shoulder to suggest they stand! Such ignorance and lack of respect is not modern misbehaviour. The national anthem used to be played before all cinema screenings, and, even in the 1970s, I and my friend were the only two people to stand firmly to attention during it. We are not expected to place a hand on our heart so the very least one can do is to get off ones a*se! God Save The Queen! http://youtu.be/twaEifDmGqk
  19. I hope its not Charles, he is not seen favourable in Canada, if he is next in line and takes the crown. I can positivly say that he will not be on any Canadian money (not becasue he is ugly as shit) but that we just don't want him there, to be honest I would rather William to be king next and not Charles, as it stands now, most Canadians won't mind having a head of state if it is William, but if Charles becomes king well you may see some changes in Canada. Now thats out of the way, as my great aunt would say in her English accent and my gradmother in her Irish accent "God Save the Queen" If it makes it any better, he wouldn't be "King Charles III" but, actually, "King George VII". It's the way the monarchy and the line of succession works. It isn't a smorgasbord one can pick and choose from but a seamless line stretching back centuries. Anyway, it isn't greatly appropriate to be talking about who is next when the royal incumbent is celebrating an occasion unlikely to be seen again in the next few centuries. Long May She Reign!
  20. [quote name=Sitting-' timestamp='1338638138' post='271370] Arrived in London last night to watch the show and take part in the events over this coming weekend. Also attending a street party here on Tuesday. EXCITED! . Have you got a ticket for that concert? I gather Madness are performing on the roof of the palace, this time.
  21. Around the UK and Commonwealth, the Diamond Jubilee celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of the crowning of our Sovereign, Queen Elizabeth II, are under way! Her Majesty is enjoying the (horse) races today at Epsom. Tomorrow, the great river pageant, with a thousand vessels taking part, will be staged on the River Thames. On Monday, a concert is taking place right outside the gates of Buckingham Palace. Then, there's the traditional coach procession to look forward to, as well. Communities all over the land are to enjoy street parties and events. We have a "Party In The Park" here, on Monday, culminating in the lighting of a beacon at 10:15pm (by which time I hope it will have stopped raining!). We're putting our Union Flag out today - lots of them and red, white and blue bunting were seen yesterday! For those who wonder why we are doing this, here's a short history lesson with some rare footage. "Vivat Regina Elizabetha !"
  22. It went on general release in the UK, yesterday, a day after Belgium, I think! I went to see it also and have sympathy for what SOB says. It doesn't measure up to Alien or Aliens and I'd also say it scores 7/10. Ridley Scott said he aimed to "scare the sh**" out of us. He failed as much of the gore was predictable. Didn't think much of the leading lady either. Some people referred to her as "the new Ripley". Certainly not.
  23. Happy Birthday, Edd!
  24. Damit! Have a great day!
  25. Rumour has it you also need a new mouse with a MMB... :hrhr:
