  1. The GTX560Ti, selling for $249 each, makes an awesome SLI setup... http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-560-ti-sli-review/ Quite a bit faster than the GTX580, for a few bucks less....good times! Now, I have to see what I can do....I need to squeeze two of those on my list, along with a 2500K Sandy Bridge.... I planted a money-growing tree seed in my back yard..and I water it everyday...no bills burgeoning thru yet...
  2. Never trust those gizmos....manual updates is where it's at!
  3. Activision is a on a roll.... They are publishing Modern Warfare 3 in November this year... My bet is that they will release mod tools for Black ops a little after MW3 big sales numbers will be achieved....
  4. Those nVIDIA cards are great for 1920 X 1080 or less resolution (1GB RAM), the HD 6950 and 6970 are better for higher res with the 2GB versions. nVIDIA is good for the people playing games that make good use of PHYSX and use their rig for F@H... AMD/ATI is good if you want to run 3 monitor setup with a single card... I like both nVIDIA and AMD/ATI, there is so many options out there now...ATI/AMD is dropping $20 on some cards to fight the GTX560, and also start to sell 1GB versions of the 6950....
  5. I just installed 11.1 and GPU-Z tells me it's still 10.12 Also, in CCC it says 10.12 still ...weird!
  6. hey guys, That new GTX 560 Ti is out, seems like a really decent card for the price point. It's gonna sell for around $250 US... It's gonna be a nice card to upgrade to if you're running a 8800GT or an early GTX 200 (280 or a 260)...same to be said from aTI cards like the 4870 or lower... http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_560_Ti/
  7. Shrapnel, how do you like your ASUS 27" display?
  8. Hey! Noob? I don't think so! Maybe you're the smartest of the bunch...I usually upgrade every year, but I could do something else with that money... Your E6850 could be comfortable at 3.6Ghz, to give you a little extra headroom, if you get an aftermarket cooler. I OCed my buddy's E6850 easily to 3.6, on an arctic cooling Freezer 7 pro. Today, the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus is the one to consider for the price (for your application). It can be found for below $30 if you search carefully. Computers with 4 sticks of RAM (all slots filled) are a little finicky to OC, but it's feasible... If you need help, just PM... For the price, right now, Sandy bridge offers a tremendous amount of computer POWAAR for a dude coming from a Dual-core.... IF you look at upgrading this fall, it's gonna be pretty interesting times!!! AMD will have their new "Bulldozer" 8-cores CPUs on a new AM3+ socket. Also, the Sandy bridge bigger brother, the IVY BRIDGE in socket 2011 will be coming out also...IVY will be more expanse than Sandy, but will be available in 6 and maybe 8 cores...... IT NEVER ENDS!!! Now, you need a big screen to play Crysis!
  9. Nice rig! What do you have for GFX card (s)? Also, please list your memory kit model number, it's important info!!!
  10. Well, It's really nice to know that your build is doing fine. You'll have plenty of time to wait for BIOS revisions and overclocking tips (learned the hard way by early ginea pigs), then you'll have everything needed. The 8 threads is nice, useful for encoding and other applications. Not useful for gaming yet, but if you keep your CPUs long enough, it will eventually pay off.. I'm still debating on whether I'll grab a 2500K or 2600K, just to have the option to divert $100 to another component. NCIX.com has the 2500K + a noctua HSF for $269....it's really good pricing... anyway, enjoy!
  11. NICE!!!!!!!!!! I played a few hours last night without CI!!!!! It's like XI-blackops rebirth!!!! Cheese!!! One CI is nothing to write home about, you smarty pants!
  12. Y Like up above poster are speaking the truth...first, you got to make sure to get enough powa...a new power supply!!! 600-650 watts and of a good brand, not no-name crapiola...also, you have to make sure it will be compatible with that proprietary motherboard... Like TSW said, a GTX260 (second-hand) is a good idea, a Radeon HD5770 (smaller cooler, less power hungry) is another option...nVidia GTX460, Radeon HD 6850...
  13. Jeez...I just can't compete with those old farts....nice cars PwrCrazy and other above posters!!! KK I remember now...my FIRST vehicle...how the hell did I forgot that one... a two horse power rig...black and white...no windshield on that one...
  14. MY first car was a 1978 Montecarlo V8 305 that my dad gave me...like this one but mine was red... I killed it in 3 weeks, was running it with a bottle of 104+ octane almost at every fill...too much drifting for that old rotten frame...the frame let go....I drove it to the junk yard myself and got $50 for it lolz. The first car that I bought myself was a 1981 Celica...$250 I payed, it was like this one, 5-speed tranny, but Black...I killed it in a few weeks...too much drifting...hard on the drive shaft and old clutch... the engine was still fine tho..the trusty 'ol toyota 22R!!! I was driving it off-road...drifting...it died on me. Now I'm a little smarter with my vehicles...I think...
  15. Welcome idiot! Have a good time here!!!!!!!!
  16. Me, the MOFO neeeeeeds the BO medal!!! Also, can I get the CI medal? oh, that one is like the whiner medal I already have! UPDATE: Thanks a lot for the medal!!!!!!!!
  17. Seen! The MAX seems alright and got positive reviews... Now, it seems ASUS is having issues with their motherboards on the Sand platform...mosty memory settings issues...BIOS revisions galore...it's hard to be a early adopter! I'm waiting another few weeks to see how it pans out..
  18. COD 4 and COD2 are some of the most popular shooters of all times, after counter strike...they DIDN'T charge us for content. Activision is pissed...they made really awesome games that people enjoy...TOO MUCH...Activision want money, not making long-lasting games... If the server keep CI, I'm not buying a DLC....that's for sure...they should OFFICIALLY come up with a statement on server deficiencies before I'd buy anything else from them... MONEY-vision, Treyarch or Gameservers are NOT TO BE TRUSTED until further notice....
  19. Hey Idiots, This is a nice review in case you're looking to upgrade your system to play Black ops... Well, as stated, BO is using DX9, so pretty much every decent cards equal or faster than a 8800GT should be fine... Although no amount of graphics powa will save you from the dreaded CONNECTION INTERRUPT!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/call-of-duty-black-ops.html EDIT: There you go Nightmare...I screwed up lolz!
  20. The 2600K'sOC on air is way superior to what you can get out of a i7 950... The 2600K OCed is way up there with the 6-core i7 980X.... For the 8x/8X crossfire /SLI setup, there is a difference in performance between this and 16x/16x, but it's within 5% in the worst conditions, so it's not worthy of being mentioned...but there is a very slim difference.... (never worth the price!!!!!). Good stuff on the UNLOCKED 6950's nightmare!!!! I'm getting a 2600K, a Noctua d14 Big mofo heatsink, a Gigabyte or MSI mobo with 8x/8x...2 x 4GB RAM sticks...I'll kep my Radeon HD5870 and 22" LCD monitor for this year.... That's if I'm not winning the lottery! I'm giving my OCed Q9550 Quad to my daughter...she's spoiled...
  21. Bunch of Jack 4$$es... I assume they CANNOT fix the CI issue, so they keep a low profile on it...in my opinion, it might even be an indication that the issue might be with SERVER hardware and that would be too costly for gameservers.com to fix/upgrade...so they keep a blind eye... Funny how you can play on other HC servers all day without a crash...
  22. Nice! What did you choose for a heatsink? The Deluxe is a nice board! You're all set!
  23. I wish you the best of luck. Keep your morale high! I know it's easier said than done... Take care bro... MOFO
  24. I started a Sandy bridge topic in the "computer help" section... Sandy is really good. The real question is: is your system really outdated to your taste and need? If the answer is yes, have at her!!!! In my situation, my Core2Quad Q9550 @ 3.8 is (IMHO) bottlenecking my 5870 graphics card. I was getting pretty much the same 3Dmarks06 results with a GTX260 core 216 (which is half the performance of the 5870)...still it's a 20 000 3dmarks06... So yes, for gaming, I could benefit from Sandy bridge... for everything else, jeez the computer is already really fast! Can I wait? Probably. AMD bulldozer might be good enough when it comes out to be a serious contender (coming out around April). If not, IVY BRIDGE, the 22nm refresh of Sandy bridge, with be even more powerful, new socket again (s2011)...with 2 full 16x PCI-E slots...and support for upcoming 6 core CPUs...(coming out at the end of 2011)... Sandy is interestingly more powerful than the socket 1366 Quads and stock and for cheaper, even factoring-in the twin 16x slots...factor-in an EASY AS HELL 4.6GHz stable overclock with the help of a $50 avg. heatsink, it's a steal... IVY bridge will be a lot more powerful again, but it's not gonna be the actual games that will push the limits... Wait until the next-gen consoles are coming out to see the need for more powerful computers...right now, nothing pushes them really...
