  1. A shame. I like BO but I'm out of there until this shit gets squared away. It's back to COD4 and Dean's goddamned knife - the bastard.
  2. You're an IDIOT - now start acting like one!! WELCOME - great to have another friend from the frozen north in here...
  3. Dean, now I shoot you in the balls - only in the balls.
  4. Thanks Chile. Guess I'll take a rest from this one for a while and see what they can work out.
  5. The last couple days on Black Ops, I'm in a map and suddenly everything all but freezes. It's like the map is doing one frame every couple of seconds. If I can manage to exit the map, it makes no difference - trying to move my mouse around, even to exit the game itself, is impossible. I have to open Task Manager to close it. So is this lag, and if so, why should it continue to affect the game even after I leave the map? The strange thing about this is tonight, when it happened again, I had to use Task Manager to shut down Black Ops and then I opened COD4, and as soon as I brought that game up, the same thing was happening. After a reboot, everything's fine. I doubt it's the system. This is a new Alienware Aurora, with an i5, memory out the wazoo and dual GeForce 460 GTX cards (so it's not the cards either but just to be sure, I cranked BO down to 800x600 and same thing happened.) I have had no problems with COD4 or anything else on this system until I installed BO and BO's been running just fine since I got it up until the past couple of days when this shit has started. Any idees?
  6. Wow - bunch of birthdays. Many happy returns folks!!!
  7. Thanks all. Now, where's the Post Whore Club and that titty bar??
  8. Screw it. Need to get this done: 997
  9. The MP5 seems to be the weapon of choice for most maps and general combat in COD4. What will be the best overall weapon (excluding knives, sniper rifles, etc.) in Black Ops? (5)
  10. A router normally stops incoming Internet traffic from getting on your network, unless the traffic is in response to one of your computers or when using port forwarding. But instead of discarding the incoming traffic or using port forwarding, you can send incoming traffic to one computer on your network by establishing a "Default DMZ Server". (DMZ = humorous reference to "Demilitarized Zone".) This avoids you having to figure out what ports an Internet application wants — by throwing all ports open for that computer. For regular network operation, NETGEAR recommends you do not use a DMZ. A computer with DMZ loses firewall protection, and is exposed to exploits from the Internet. If compromised, your own computer can attack the rest your network. Instead of DMZ, use port forwarding, as described in How is Port Forwarding Configured? However, the DMZ server feature is helpful: When you have a problem connecting to an Internet service. Setting up a DMZ will determine whether a closed port is responsible for the problem. With some online games and videoconferencing applications that are incompatible with NAT. (6)
  11. I'm still having problems getting servers to stay in my Favorites list. I add them, but they don't show up. (7)

  17. Four years ago I planted a willow tree in my back yard and it's done quite well, about 30 feet tall. When the pool guys put a new liner in our inground pool this spring they as much said, "Only an idiot would plant a willow tree 40 feet from a pool because the roots will grow right into it and destroy your pool." Being an Idiot, I had to agree, and decided I'd have the tree taken out this fall. So I called several services and the best price I got was $300. I told the wife that was ridiculous for a tree that wouldn't take but a hour or two to cut down, and that I'd borrow a chain saw and do it myself. She said, "Only an Idiot would try to cut down a tree at your age." Being an Idiot, I borrowed the saw and cut the damned tree down. While I was cutting off the last branch, it turned and smacked me upside the head, knocking me down. No damage done, so after I commented on that tree's ancestry, I started piling the branches in one corner of the yard I use for shrubs, leaves, etc. About an hour into this I decided to take a break and reached up to take off my glasses to wipe off the sweat, only to find my glasses weren't there. Apparently, the branch knocked them off and I didn't notice. I couldn't find them near the tree, so I figured they got caught up in one of the branches. Two hours later, after I had moved all the branches off one pile, and then put them back, I gave up. It was the proverbial needle in a haystack. So, to save $300, I cut down a tree, busted my ass, hurt my back (which I broke in a car accident and have a herniated disc) and ended up paying $420 for a new pair of glasses. I AM an Idiot. I sometimes doubt it. But this weekend confirmed - again - that I'm in the right clan.
