Hi all, Somehow I pooched my mobo when I installed a 2nd video card in SLI. ASUS will cross-ship me a new one when they have stock, but that does me no good now as I'll be off work until January 3 and I'll have time to really play. My wife is very understanding and told me to go ahead and get the parts to build a new PC. So... I went from a Core 2 Duo 3Ghz, 4Gb RAM to an i5 2500k 3.3Ghz unlocked Quad with 16Gb RAM and 2x GTX 550-Ti's. So far so good. My operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I've re-installed CODWAW and downloaded the patches. When I try to run the v1.2 to v. 1.4 patch, I get an error that says "Error reading setup initialization file". I've downloaded from >XI< and two other sources with the same result. As this is a new install, software is minimal, just MS Office 2010, MalwareBytes and AVG Antivirus and firewall so far CODWAW is my main game, so this is killing me! Any thoughts, suggestions or advice is more than welcome. Thanks, - Astronomer

Looks like this was a side-note at a conference, some dumb-fuck with too much time on their hands running off at the mouth, and a newspapoer looking to stir the pot a bit. Still, it's troubling to even hear this nonsense being taken seriously by someone in a charitable organization. Even an over-educated leftie liberal like me finds this sort of crap puke-worthy. Everyone's a comedian... :-) I tried creating a new class with the same rifle and a silencer, and the same thing happens: I get 2 sniper rifles.

Hi all, For some reason that I can't figure out, two odd things now occur in the Modern Weapons mod: 1.) I have a kit with silent mode, a G36c with a silencer, and a sniper rifle. If the silencer is selected as an option, I get outfitted with two different sniper rifles instead, despite the kit clearly showing a silenced G36c. Any other rifle option works as it should i.e. grenade launcher, laser sight etc. 2.) Shortly after I spawn, it's like my avatar does several high-speed flips or rotations in the space of a half-second. Neither of these things happened before today. Thoughts? Suggestions?

What Merlin said. Check to make sure that the cooling fan on the card's heatsink is actually running when the PC is on. When it's off, spin the fan manually to make sure that it moves smoothly and freely. I turn my video card's fan up to 95-100% by default when my PC is turned on as well. Also, what kind of heat sink is on your CPU, and do you have good air intake and exhaust in your case? If any of the above are inadequate, your card will get hot no matter what you have on it for cooling. The environment around it within the case must be properly cooled as well.
