  1. Congrats folks! Everyone, be sure to target CplAH as heavily as you can. He giggles like a schoolgirl whenever he gets a run of kills in and sings Queen's "We Are The Champions" at the top of his lungs whenever he gets on the leaderboard. Annoying little fucker he is too. :-) Glad to see you and the other two Idiots have earned your tags!
  2. VERY nice!!!
  3. CHKN and btw, if u gona buy a new psu, dont hesitate to buy a good brand, corsair, thermaltake, ... it may cost more, but a quality psu is the base of a good rig What CHKN said. You can get cheaper ones, but you get what you pay for and a cheap one can blow your system. Get at least a 750 watt model or better. 64 bit OS will let you use all of your memory, but don't get this unless you plan on upgrading to 4 or more Gb. nVidia 460 is a good video card at a great price, as is the new 550. 560's jump up in price from the previous two, so if budget is a factor... As Merlin said, your platform is still great for current games, so no rush for a new rig just yet. Adding a better video card will make a world of difference, as will more memory. If you haven't overclocked before and are interested, do a pile of research before you jump into it. www.overclockers.com has great guides in their forums, as does www.overclock.net. Overclocking is NOT something that you can jump in to and do quickly. Slow and easy wins the race there.
  4. MrTwister Now this is some funny shit cause Assssssssssssstromers "stealth ninja" is as good as a Ostrich sticking it's head in the sand!!! Your the best Astronomer, thanks for the laughs!!!! Nah, more like a panicked blind bull in a china shop with a bad case of gas AND continuous hiccups.
  5. I'm just outside London near the 402...can't make this one unfortunately, which is a big disappointment, but I'll be there for the next one. Count on it!
  6. ...speaking of medals. where's my whiner medal for my frequent outbursts of "Fuckin' bunny hoppin, noob toobin' etc. etc."
  7. He he he... I whine about the bunny hoppers (Right Mr. Twister?) only because I keep getting fragged by them. I like to play stealth ninja, but that's my style preference. I have to admit to feeling a thrill when killing a hopper that's almost as good as blowing up a tank. Now, if we could get a mod developed that would allow tanks to hop....that would RAWK! imagine 8-12 tanks bouncing all over the place to avoid getting hit!
  8. Boomer omg man that SUCKS dude! sorry to hear that! Thanks Boomer. It's annoying as hell, but at least I have an alternate machine to play on, and I could build one freom parts if needs be. at least I'll have a new mobo in a couple of weeks.
  9. Hey CplMOFO, they didn't say either way, and seeing as TigerDirect still sells it, I'm assuming that they have them in stock. They said to expect a 10 day turn-around. I have a compatible motherboard in another FrankenPC that I built. This has the old mobo that the ASUS replaced. It has a Pentium D 3.0Ghz in it right now. I was getting random odd errors with it so I retired it from gaming. I don't think it handled overclocks too well. It would be stable then all of a sudden I'd get a cascade of errors (probably voltage) and have to set the BIOS back to default.I plan to turn it into a server sometime this month. It runs Linux nice and stable. So, I could put it back into gaming service, but that would be a pain: remove components on it, install gaming parts, HD's, change the drivers, then do it all over again when the replacement comes in. The laptop performs very well at 60-90 FPS. Heck, I was top 3 or 4 in some WAW Modern Weapons matches today. Cheers, - Astronomer
  10. Ok, got the RMA, now to take all the components off of the mobo and get it ready for shipping. Pain in the ass, but nothing can be done about it. I got the gaming laptop all set up with maps and tweaked the settings. I was getting excellent frame-rates and decent scores this morning, so it looks like I'll be able to keep playing until the replacement comes in.
  11. Thanks Merlin. Odd thing with this mobo is that there's no jumper to reset the CMOS - only the Real Time Clock. It has an automated backup and recovery for the BIOS in the event of a glitch, and it looks like that system (or the chip) has failed in that whatever defaults were loaded are corrupt.
  12. Hey there Mofo - I'm on the same page as you, but a new rig is not in the cards for a while yet. Maybe sometime in 2012. In the meantime, I have to keep the ol' jalopy running, and it's still a decent gaming platform: core2 3Ghz, OC'd to 3.6Ghz, Corsair top-end memory (DDR2, but still), PC Power and Cooling Silencer 750 (before they were purchased and the quality dipped), new vid card... I hope that the fact that their RMA center is nearby will help.
  13. My 3-month-old ASUS P5N-D motherboard is pooched. It was having odd boot issues recently, as well as occasional random blue screens. Now when it boots I get this error: "CMOS checksum error - Defaults loaded". USB devices are unresponsive, and a PS2 keyboard is also unresponsive. I cannot hit the <del> or <F1> keys to continue or enter setup. I've removed the CMOS battery, checked it for power, and replaced it. This had no effect. I called ASUS and they say it looks like a chipset failure. If I can remove the chipset myself (unlikely as I believe they're soldered to the board) they'll send me a new one. If not, I have to send my board in and get a replacement sent to me, probably 2-4 weeks is my guess. Worse, I just installed less than 24 hours ago an EVGA GTX550Ti super-clocked video card (which I pushed its overclock even further). I can't catch a fucking break. My wife has generously offered me the use of her laptop in the meantime. It's got a 2.4Ghz Core2 Duo processor, 4Gb RAM, and an nVidia 9800 with 1Gb vRAM. Not super, but adequate I guess. Fuck. Fuckity fuck.
  14. I was at the local Tiger Direct store on Friday and I was looking at this case. They also come in Red and black. I like the look of the white and as Merlin said, nice and uncluttered. I like a large case because you can manage the cables better and there's tones of room for drives etc, not to mention air flow. Very nice!
  15. Wish I could have joined those that made it. Next time!
  16. PimpedOutPete Astronomer The vileness of some crimes makes one scream for the ultimate retribution, but the risks are far too great, and as a deterrent to further crimes, it just doesn't work. just my $.02 Thats 0.3 cents American now.....hehehe So why the hell are paperback books still $2 more here, and many consumer goods are still far cheaper just across the border? :-)
  17. To be fair to the Norwegians, they do have a clause whereby after 21 years of incarceration, they can decide if he/she poses a continued threat to society and they can keep that individual incarcerated indefinitely. Canada has a 25-year maximum, but we also have a "Dangerous Offender" clause reserved for serial killers, serial rapists etc. Animals like Clifford Olson, former Colonel Russell Williams and Paul Bernardo will die in Prison. My problem with the death penalty is that there is too great a risk of condemning an innocent person to death because some lawyer was more persuasive than another. Look it up via Google: How many innocent people have been executed, and how many more are on Death row? Search "Cameron Todd Willingham" for example. The vileness of some crimes makes one scream for the ultimate retribution, but the risks are far too great, and as a deterrent to further crimes, it just doesn't work. just my $.02
  18. It's shit-heads like that that ruin it for the rest of us. I've earned my level of mediocrity through hard work and long hours of futile practice, and I'm proud of it! What does little Pencil-dick Raisin-bag get out of cheating like that?
  19. Nice tee there Merlin!
  20. Welcome back BudSr! I missed those long mentoring conversations, the sage advice, the shared laughs at the expense of others...oh..wait..that was someone else. Never mind. Still, glad to see a village recover its Idiot! :-)
  21. Thanks Shamu. All the best to you and the USA on July 4.
  22. Happy Birthday, Idiot!
  23. JAH velcro: no, radio: no, basketball: no, penicillin:no, telephone: no. cant be bothered checkin the others. i like u tho. I believe he was referring to Insulin, credited to London Ontario native Frederick Banting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_Banting). We can split basketball. James Nasmith, a Canadian was working at what's nowSpringfield College in Massachusetts. Alexander Graham Bell, an American, spent much of his life working in Canada in the resort town of Baddeck on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, close to where I grew up. He developed the telephone (and the hydrofoil and many other things) there. Another thing invented by a Canadian was the CCD chip, co-developed by Nobel Prize winner and fellow Nova Scotian Willard Boyle, who passed away 2 weeks ago. As for radio, the first trans-Atlantic transmission of a message was performed by Italian Guglielmo Marconi from a transmission station in Glace Bay, also on Cape Breton Island I can remember all that shit, but do you think I can find my darned car keys and wallet in the morning???
  24. An idiot's idiot, because he's here, some village is missing theirs. Happy Birthday Merllin007!
