Ok i installed the cod4X patch and can load the game, get into the maps but cant seem to select a class. the button does nothing. I think I will just wait till my physical copy of cod4 gets here. As of now this is the steam client downloaded version and have always had issues with it one way or another. Thanks for the info Totty.

Hey XI. Been quite a while since ive played on your servers but know quite a few of your members and associates from many years of playing on the COD4MW Ace Mod server. Havent been on in quite a while and trying to get back into COD but cant seem to get it working. Ive got the game installed through steam and have put the iw3mp.exe 1.7 file placed in the correct folder and the game launches fine but i try and join the ace mod server and I get an error ( Impure Client Detected. Invalid .IWD files referenced! C:\program files(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty 4\mods\xiace\z_ace1.8d.iwd) Have tried deleting it and letting it redownload but cant seem to get it to fix itself that way. Any suggestions on how to get it up and running so I can play again? Any input would be awesome. Thanks

I am having an Issue with my COD4. It totally locks up my PC when I try and join a game. Have been working the issue for a long time now and still can't figure it out. I can get to the point where it starts to download the map and then it just freezes my pc and I have to restart to get it un stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I miss killing on the Ace mod. Thanks.

Hi guys. Having trouble with my COD4. I fresh install the game which I just bought from Steam. Of course its in the lowest resolution possible and running version 1.8. So I try and bump up the resolution to my monitors native resolution (3440x1440), but it crashes the game and freezes up my PC when I click the apply button. I then resort to manually changing settings in the config file, which did change the resolution as well as the refresh rate. I have tried a standard 1920x1080 setting as well but it does the same thing. I saw that the Steam version uses a 1.8 patch so I found a workaround for that and found a COD4MP.EXE that loads the game using the 1.7 patch and dropped it into the COD4 folder replacing the original after backing it up of course. Any help would be appreciated. Have been working on getting this damn game to work for several hours now and have hit a brick wall. Thanks all. So far the spawn protection seems to work but there are a couple minor issues. 1) If you airstrike someone in spawn protection it takes your gun indefinitely. 2) If you kill someone in spawn protection it takes your gun indefinitely. I don't think that your gun should be taken permanently but for like 10 seconds or something to that effect. Other than those 2 bugs it is working ok.
