I mist part of your question. To get top dead center... pull the spark plug.... put a screw driver in the hole.... crank the engine over how ever your car does that until the screw driver is as high as it will go. That is top dead center. My honda had a place to put a 21mm socket on to rotate the engine. Not sure if that video explains how.. but doing a timing belt you have to get TDC.

That's an easy fix, buy a new Chevy. Yea everyone should go by a Government Motors car or truck. hahahaa

No it goes direct to the computer. But the one thing was replacing the magnets and the sensor. This is not a small part. Looks about 10 or so inches long. Has a great on the end that spinks with the engine. Replaces the old way of doing timing i guess. It controls the fuel injectors basked of #1 piston at the highest point. If not installed exactly correct it will not work. Must be the same way it was taken off.

I found this... maybe some of this will help. Camshaft Sensor Magnet may Damage Synchronizers Engine -- Verified The magnet for the camshaft position sensor may fall out of its mount and damage the synchronizers. This causes long crank times when starting the engine and may cause the Check Engine Light to illuminate.
