Yes. Changed to Fastest on the monitor menu.
Ages ago I set my FPS in cod4 to 125. Do I need to increase that to 165 to match my monitor? I can't remember the command, but I believe I ran 2 commands in the cod4 terminal to both change my FPS but also display the actual FPS in the bottom right.

Yesterday I took my wife for pre booked tests at the hospital. And after having an Endoscopy and Colonoscopy the Doctors discovered my wife has Bowel Cancer.
At the moment we are just numb and trying to get our heads round it, Donna is a woman who has never smoked or drank to excess (the odd glass of wine) and teaches PE at school. So she has always been fit and healthy. And in ten years has only been off work twice due to illness it just makes no sense.
We have now told all the family which has been very hard on everyone. This woman is my rock for over 22 years we have only ever been apart 3 times in all those years. I find myself having to be the strong one telling everyone its alright mum will be fine, while cracking jokes and keeping a smile on my face when in reality I just want to scream. 
It is now a waiting game for more tests and the results from the Biopsy. We have a full body CT scan booked for the 4th of next month to see if it has spread and only after those results will the Doctors decide the next step.
I do not claim to be a religeous man but I prayed for the first time in a lot of years. Not for me but for my wife who is the most wonderfull kind and gentle woman you could ever wish to meet.
I only post this to remind everyone, hug the special people in your life , tell them you love them today. Because you never know what tomorrow brings.

@SharpeGot it figured out! I'm running 165hz now according to testufo.com. I would have never known without that website.
Setup is 27" Samsung G32A with 1070 nvidia. Turned off Freesync on monitor settings. Then on Nvidia control panel, went to "Adjust desktop size and position". It already displayed 1920x1080 @ 165hz. However, on "Change Resolution", it was set to 1920x1080 with highest possible refresh of 120hz. Scrolling down that list, there's a section called "PC" and then if I select 1920x1080, I have 165hz as option.

I looked up the manual online. It looks like there is probably a setting in the OSD to be able to use the full 160hz:

Not sure if you've messed about with that yet. Looks like there is a button at the back of the monitor to access the various menus. It also seems to have a response time setting (similar to my own that I mentioned previously) where you can make it as fast as possible:

144hz yesterday looked to have poor contrast and colour in comparison to 120hz.
I have revisited this today and both settings are identical visually.  I can only assume that now I've set the monitor up, it is happy running 144hz. I could also be my 3070ti trying to keep up with the sudden changes.
Either way it's perfect.now at 144hz

It runs Cod4 4k 120hz no problem.
144hz didn't look as good so I backed it down a bit 
The monitor itself is 160hz

I am a big fan of Acer; I have an acer 165hz monitor that costs around $200 USD, but they have cheaper options that can still have 165hz.  Also, with some Acers' you can enable a crosshair and mess with other settings for your monitor.  They also will typically come with AMD freesync that syncs your systems min and max refresh rates.  
Also a tip for people with monitors.  Some systems do not automatically have your display set to the highest setting that you can achieve.  Going into your settings and then display will allow you to change your refresh rate to the maximum that your monitor allows to improve your experience.

The monitor I got (and still have) didn't break the bank, it was around $250 when I got it. Still going strong almost 6 years later, time flies! It is a Viewsonic 24", and 144hz. I noticed a large difference when I got it. 
I'm not up to date on the latest models etc. However a few things that come to mind: Going from 60hz to 144hz gives the biggest improvement if I remember correctly, compared with going from say 144hz to 250hz (someone can correct me if I'm wrong). 

The other thing that comes to mind is the input lag, which can vary quite a bit from monitor to monitor. Once you've narrowed down your selections, I'd look up some independent reviews on what the input lag is like on the monitors you are looking at. Older monitors and tvs can be bad for this, so you can see a big improvement going with something gaming specific. 
Something else to bear in mind is I believe the larger the screen and the better the resolution, the greater the graphics card requirements. Worth bearing in mind if you intend on playing newer games and/or your card isn't great. Cod4 shouldn't be as badly effected, although I believe @KidSlayer! may still have ran into this issue at some point trying to play on something like a 64" screen?

@Sharpe seems to have some good advice on this. I just can't commit the funds to upgrade.......ie I'm too cheap lol.

As you all know Dad passed away September 30/2023. Mom has been in a nursing home since August 2023. Dad and her were supposed to meet there but it was not to be.
On March 05/2023 Mom was rushed by ambulance to Emergency care. She was suffering from pneumonia, a UT infection and poor circulation in her legs. Mom passed away at 1:00 this morning.
Dad at 91 and mom 88 after 69 years of marriage they are together again. Their pain and suffering in now over.
Although sad our family is so happy they are finally free.

Was a rough week last week but it ended good! Got out of Hospital, onto the golf course (only 9 holes at a time, building energy back) and out to a concert last night. 
Concert was amazing, got to go see my 2nd favorite band The Lazys, went with the lead singer and girlfriend of my FAVORITE band Monster Truck! 
And I got to eat my 1st real meal!!! Ramen!!!

 


 
the drummer of The Lazys sent me a message saying he had a gift for me, all the members were checking in on me last week and were so happy to see me there and took time to chat, was great,

was so good just to feel normal for a night again!!!!

Alrighty, so as many already know, i had a full teeth extraction done on Monday morning. Every thing went amazingly! Zero pain after, 26 teeth removed. Sent home same day with meds. The next afternoon i went to bathroom, had my 1st movement since surgery, came out pure blood. I figured i swallowed alot through night so i wasnt concerned. Next morning, even worse, so i went to emerg, they did blood work and everything came back perfect. They gave me a script for bleeding ulcers as they figured thats what it was due to the meds i was taking. Sent me home and told me to come back if it got worse or didnt change. Well within 2 hours of being home i went to bathroom again, 3 times in 20 minutes, and probably a liter of blood came out. Went back to hospital and they have admitted me. Had me on ivs through night and a schedualed scope at some time today down throat to see if ulcers and if not then a scope the other way tomorrow 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
Woke up this morn, still liquid movement...but... NO BLOOD!!!! So i am assuming it was bleeding ulcers as thats the meds they gave me through night. They still going to do scope to make sure today. Hopefully be discharged and home by tonight!
What a fuckin week huh, get every tooth yanked from head, then this. Hopefully all rainbows and unicorns after this!!!
Stormy will be back annoying ya all soon enough, cant get rid of me fhat easy!!!

Some of you have probably seen the reports of the tragedy that not only happened in my neighborhood (5 houses down!) but also struck my firefighter family last night.
Many of you may (or may not) know that I have been volunteering at the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company for the past 15 years.
Last night my wife and I were finishing our dinner when I noticed a dispatch on my cell phone for an outside gas leak just up the street from my house.
These are generally routine calls, however, last night was anything but normal.  
Our crews arrived on scene to find an underground 500 gallon propane tank leaking.  As they normally do, they request a hazardous materials response to assist with these types of calls.
Within seconds the home literally exploded.  Our house shook like a plane crashed on it.  I bolted out front and saw the huge plume of smoke and a fireball that was taller than the trees.  I immediately knew what happened.
As a company photographer I grabbed my boots and my camera and bolted.  I was there in less than 3 minutes after the blast.  It was literally like a war zone.
We lost a brother last night.  And 7 others from my fire company were severely injured.  A few were released this morning, but others remain in the hospital.  Please say a prayer for them all.....
I want to thank those of you that reached out to me this morning.  You have no idea how much that means to me. 
 My wife and I, and our house are fine.  We are devastated at the loss of our beloved friend firefighter Trevor Brown.  And we are anxious to get the rest of our firefighters out of the hospital.
Please keep them all in your prayers....

Just seen a post over on F4H,s facebook page that they got word he passed...Has anyone got word on him ? Seems he was last active 1/2022...I did ask if they could find out more info
"Found out the other day that someone we gamed with sadly passed away, some of us that have been here since the beginning will remember him. His gaming name was BuddyChrist and he was a hoot and was always laughing and joking around. Even though he hadn't played in the server for a long time he will someone that is remembered for his character. Rest easy old friend."
