  1. Having spent quite a lot of time in New Orleans and Nashville (I will be in NOLA in November)....I love both, btw There is no comparison on fun activities for the group...New Orleans wins hands down. However, I would likely attend either, so there is not really a bad decision as far as I am concerned.
  2. Finally got a chance to start looking at some of the other photos I took after I got home. I particularly like this Milky Way shot I got.
  3. Here are some shots from the Outer Banks of North Carolina where I have been vacationing for a week. The week started out very rough with Hurricane Jose just offshore. We had ~50 mph gusts for the first three days. Beaches have been closed to swimming all week (unless you were a professional surfer here for the competition). Weather broke on Wednesday (beaches still closed) but at least it was nice and sunny. The waves were huge for this area and the surfers were having a blast. So I decided to grab my camera and make the most of it. The weather was also perfect for some night exposures at the Bodie Island Light House....although I had to fight with a group of clueless photographers one evening. Also had fun flying my drone around. Had a video to upload but I guess it's too large...I'll resize it and try again later. Oh....the surfer photos were taken with my Canon 5D MK IV and Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens The lighthouse photos were taken with my Canon 5D MK IV and Canon 24-105 f/4L USM IS lens. On tripod (IS / AF disabled) with remote shutter on BULB at f/4 for ~13 seconds) One more night then back to reality for a few weeks. Cheers hope to see you all on the server in a few days! -Smeg (a.k.a Dave)
  4. Gonna miss you all. Headed to Outer Banks to chase hurricanes. Will share pics if I have time (and a connection). See you in a week!
  5. Gonna be warm there in Levelock....you're gonna need to get a new wardrobe
  6. Snagged a couple of shots of a Bald Eagle when I was out boating on Memorial Day. Two of the better ones. Taken with Canon 5D Mark IV and Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS USM lens. Eagle was about 100 yards away so these are significant crops. Also took my new drone out and got some footage I may post a little later. Cheers!
  7. Just like @WildPenguin I have never smoked anything in my life.... My parents were heavy smokers.....it was disgusting to be penned up in a car with them. Our whole house smelled of the nastiness and everything had a yellow tint to it. Gross, have no idea what people see in it. Unfortunately I'll probably die from second hand cancer LOL
  8. A friend of mine and I flew down to Greenwood, SC (he owns a Beechcraft Bonanza) I took this with my Canon 5D Mark IV with my Canon EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens and 2x teleconverter.
  9. Very nice! One of those 'dots' is the International Space Station (ISS) NASA published a few photos of it zoomed in and quite obvious. Good stuff!
  10. Laz so very happy to hear the good news! Definitely something to celebrate about. Place looks amazing!
  11. Prayers to you and your family, Spinpuppy. May she rest in peace.
  12. Congrats! Your life has changed for the better.....kids are wonderful!
  13. This is for killing me this weekend. Oh and welcome to the forums....
  14. So sorry to hear Rob. Best to you. Get well, speedy recovery!
  15. As a volunteer Firefighter and knowing a lot of our county dispatcher's personally....that is a super tough gig. Don't beat yourself up about it. You're one of the lucky ones that got out before they significantly suffered from job related PTSD... It's a real issue with dispatchers and I have seen it first hand many times.... You'll come out of this standing tall.
  16. Jason, thank you for sharing this with us. I am so sorry for your loss.
