  1. First thing I learned when I was 7: 'A gun is always loaded.' Don't care what you call it, don't point one at anybody...unless...
  2. ...guess he didn't learn from Brandon Lee's situation.
  3. What you know 'bout some Mississippi Fred?
  4. Yeah, that title gave me pause; I've used series or parallel, but never both in one setup.
  5. More like The Walking Derp.
  6. When a video game forum is chosen as an irrelevant place to hoist oneself on their own petard & demand freedom of speech, as if it were a governmental entity of some sort. There are plenty of echo chamber websites where people jerk each other off with their political views; this isn't one of them.
  7. Great story of how a child of immigrants can capture their dreams with hard work & dedication to their pursuit(s). RIP.
  8. Well then, he might have a couple things to say about that... after reconsideration.
  9. I actually meant Sammy wavering between gonna read it, maybe not, thinking about it, probably will. But sure. I'm just waiting until the New Year to see how well their new architecture will perform & what the prices on current hardware will do.
  10. ...hax
  11. Equivocation level: 753
  12. Depends on what tasks for which it is being built; gaming, video editing, both... This website is the best all-around for current status of any rig component. Gives you user rating, value, benchmarks of various aspects of performance, overall rating of rig. Can even build your own rig, see the best prices & compare to other similar or different rigs. https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/ Much faster than asking you what you want & your budget. AMD is releasing new architecture in a couple months; which means better choices & cheaper prices on current choices... if you're in no hurry. If you get an amd cpu & gpu, the new architecture will allow the cpu to use the gpu's memory when appropriate to decrease latency, among other things. The slight edge Intel has over amd in latency is about to disappear.
  13. The cache is coming along nicely.
  14. Lag compensation.
  15. My mom is German, having survived Ww2 as a child; death, disease, destruction...foraging for food in bombed-out root cellars...fleeing the Russians at the end. She worked hard in whatever she did & was one of the most truly strong people I've ever known. Stronger than my hard-scrabble, country tough dad who managed to return from tours in 'nam. Appreciation for whatever she had. Can't recall much ever bothering her, & that at some level, my dad feared her. =D. Some of my friends' German parents & grandparents who also experienced that war were likewise immensely strong, kind & generous; with a deep strain of empathy. I feel for people who don't know what they have. My friend's paternal uncle Horst was captured by the Russians & related stories of his experiences. A man of the most sincere humility & quiet strength. People don't know what they have, because they've never...not.
  16. I know. =D. Seriously, those scents will help lift your mood & carry you through your day. People looking at you like 'what is that?' is also amusing. This one chick told me she can always tell when I've been through. You get the moniker of the guy who always smells good. =D
  17. Remove the superfluous, & savor the agrestic immersion; contemplating & performing the tasks at hand, then the fruits of one's labours. His followers send him simple, utilitarian gifts which he records opening. It's humbling, the genuine gratitude for that which we mostly take for granted. His love for his children is heartening.
  18. He was born just 30 miles north of me, in Louisville. His museum is there.
  19. What the hell does that even mean? You have to wear Creed Aventus; I can tell you the ladies like it when I wear it. If you can't look good, you might as well smell good. Parfums De Marly Herod & Layton, Hermes Ambre Narguile, YSL La Nuit De L'homme are all good choices, too.
  20. 2. That's two in the pink, & one in the stink!
  21. I like the quietude & connection to the land for sustenance. Learned to appreciate this on my father's family farm.
  22. This is a fun family outing for this family:
  23. Had to modify how I process them since I've moved to an apartment. Once the hull is removed, I dump them in the bathtub to remove the bulk detritus; then fill a bucket 1/2-way with nut, top with water & agitate them with a paint mixer attachment fitted to my electric drill. I dump the water & repeat about 5 times until the water runs mostly clear. Then I set them in front of this box fan to dry for a couple days before curing them for a few fortnights in mesh bags; if stored in a cool, dry place they're good for at least a year or two. Can grab some & crack them whenever. If I've got extra time, I shell some & then vacuum seal & freeze them.
  24. No, they taste better to me straight outta the shell. I dry them for 2-3 days, then set them in net sacks to cure for a month. When you shake the nut & can hear them rattle inside, they're ready; this concentrates & develops the flavor while also making them much easier to extricate from the shell. You can eat them right after you pick them, but they're a pain in the ass to get out of the shell & don't taste as good. They taste amazing in ice cream, too.
  25. They must be pretty rough, because they're forbidden, derp.
