  1. Oh no Ausi, I'm sorry to hear that I'm hoping they'll figure out the underlying causes soon and that it will be treatable well enough
  2. Freaking f*ing finally! Took you long enough. Welcome to the family mmmmmmidget
  3. There we go! You're as crazy as all the other idiots here, so you're right were you belong now. Welcome dLUX!
  4. Carrying around this bag 12 hours a day with the fluid food
  5. So this is my second day home right now and I'm totally and utterly amazed by how well my recovery is going. I feel like myself again and I do still get pain meds for the surgery wound, but most of the things in the house I can do by myself by now. I can take walks outside of 5 minutes with my dad. I've got a lot of energy. And now the eating has started and what was supposedly gonna be difficult, is also going really well. Already my body seems to be able to handle many kinds of food. I do have to make sure that I eat my food very slowly and often, which means that a big chunk of my day I'm eating. If I get distracted by talking and eat quicker, I feel sick 15 minutes later. But that's just dizzy and tired and it's gone in 30 minutes. Already I ate 700 calories today and 45 grams protein (I need 90 after surgery) and my nightly fluid food (gavage?) adds another 1200 calories and half of proteins I need. It is gonna take me some time to find a rhythm in eating, so I won't need the extra help anymore, on average 2-3 months. But let's see what it's gonna be for me. I'm just amazed. It was such a big surgery and now I already feel like myself again. Don't understand how it's possible, but VERY happy with it.
  6. Nope! Not any additional treatment (As far as I know now). One of the reasons for the check ups. So it's actually a lot easier for me than for people diagnosed with same kind of stomach cancer in the regular way. They do need chemo and a heavy kind. They are checking my stomach now though, cutting it all up and checking each little bit. It takes the pathologist three full days of work to study it all. I should get those results in a week or two. Expectation is that there might be more cancer cells in other places in the stomach, but all stage 1, very small, and not yet grown through the side of the stomach. In that case not dangerous, and no additional treatment necessary!
  7. Actually, my laptop is getting repaired right now, but otherwise I might have joined already in a game or two. The doctors want me to sit instead of lay down for as much as possible and I would be able to do that for an hour or more by now. My recovery is going crazy fast
  8. No clue about that. I do know that if I ever want children, there's the possibility to use IVF and check which eggs or combinations have the bad gene and which don't and use the good ones. There are a few genetic illnesses in the Netherlands with which that is allowed and mine is one of them. Not sure if I would feel okay about that, but it's an option.
  9. Sooo some major changes yesterday they took a pic of the new connection between my oesophagus and small intestines and there was no leakage or anything which meant the surgery has gone good and I can eat and drink safely. Yesterday I was only allowed fluids and fluid like food such as yoghurt, but today I can already eat stuff that's not too heavy on the 'stomach'. Each time I eat now, I eat small bits. It's trial and error, hoping I don't eat too much, because if I do, I'll feel sick in 30 minutes. Also trial and error with kinds of food. Very dependent on the person which foods you can have after, so right now I just need to try stuff without going too crazy. And if it doesn't work I'll feel it as well. Up til now, I've mostly been fine, but have been feeling kinda dizzy or hot all of sudden now and then. Might be a sign I didn't handle the food well, might be a sign I just wasn't feeling great. So this is the start of a long journey trying to figure out my body again. But for starters ,I'm doing amazing! There are also people who can't hold anything down and feel very sick all the time at the start, so I'm lucky in this aspect Because I'm doing so good, they're letting me go home tomorrow Dutch hospitals are generally VERY quick to discharge people home in comparison to other countries, so I'll still have a long way to go at home, but.. I can go home! Whoop whoop! I still get the fluid food from a tube thats build straight to my intestines through my belly. In that way I can figure out food during the day without having to worry about losing TOO much weight. In general people still lose 10% of weight permanently regardless.
  10. You're all sweeties So quick update again. It's going up and down, yesterday was a real shitty day, today is better again. Although I am sleeping like crazy today. I can walk a few meters now with support and walking like the oldest, still walking grandma you've ever seen, but I can get on my feet! Other than that, they tried to stop my epidural today and take over with over with other pain meds, but that was too painful still tomorrow they're gonna stop it for real, because otherwise risk for infection is too big. I'm a bit scared of that, but we'll see. Anyway, I'm slowly getting stronger again and if plans don't change they should check the new connection Monday. If it's alright I should be allowed to eat and drink small bits again, instead of only feeding me by a build in stomach tube like they're doing now.
  11. Whadawhadawhatnow? I had to Google that, I don't mind it if people send me or remind me of food like THAT Good to know that no one else is hungry now either. (Feeling hungry originates in the stomach).
  12. Hey everyone, thank you all for the sweet messages Surgery went well yesterday. They get me good with pain meds, because they want me to move and breathe deeply. I'm still very weak in my body, but they let me try to sit up on the side of the bed a few times now, because that's better for the recovery. That caused me to become quite dizzy, but it's getting better already. I should get out of bed for just a few minutes tomorrow, so let's see how it goes. I have the best care of the country in this hospital for this surgery, so that feels very good and secure. They know what they're doing
  13. Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that I’m probably gonna be offline for a while and tell you a bit about what I’m going through right now. A few years ago I discovered that we have a rare genetic mutation running in the family which causes stomach and breast cancer. I had my own DNA checked and I also carry the mutation. The stomach cancer is the worst part of it, because it is very very difficult to check for it. I’ve been at risk since I was 20. If bad cells would spread at any point beyond the stomach, there is basically nothing the doctors would be able to do for me. Same thing if I would get any physical complaints at some point. So in the past years I’ve been under surveillance by the best specialist in my country and they did find cancer cells. They say the bad spot looks calm (not growing through the walls of my stomach), but because it’s so difficult to check them right and because I’m still so young, they’ve advised me to take action. And the only possible action is to remove my full stomach in surgery (the global guidelines are to do this surgery right away when someone is just carrying the mutation, the check ups are new). And yes, it is possible to live without a stomach. This is what they will do in surgery: So that’s why I’m getting surgery coming Tuesday and I’ll be gone from the server for a bit. I don’t know for how long, because recovery is so different per person, as are the long term complaints. So I either might be back quite soon, being all bored from not being able to do much, or it might take me a while before I have energy to do anything at all. We’ll see. Anyway, as you can imagine it will be a very intense surgery and recovery will take a long time. I’ll have to figure out how much I can eat at once, what kinds of food my body is able to handle after, a whole new rhythm of eating every two hours without any feeling of hunger, and all the symptoms my body is gonna throw at me whenever I make a ‘mistake’ in these things. Etc etc. That being said, I just wanted you all to know. Also, I’m very bad at responding to texts and messages, especially when there are many and I’m not feeling well, so please don’t be offended if I won’t respond to any or I would respond with an emoji only Just know that all and any support is appreciated
  14. When they don't have your back (anymore). When you look forward to simple days off (just staying home) for weeks/months in advance

  16. I blame it on you not playing freezetag with us. I need a new target
  17. Article today stated that in the Netherlands we have officially doubled the prices of houses in 9 years. It's near right impossible to buy now if you don't already own a house. But, rents have gone the same way, so now we're just throwing tons of money down the drain.
  18. The picking up a weapon doesn't happen too often. Less than once per map, tonight I played for like 2 hours and it didn't happen once
  19. If you fix it like Loco says, it's very useful. Also because you might start defrosting someone right away when you come out, because you are accidentally already aimed at someone.
  20. Lol, forgot I could also bind unactivate to a key. Will do that when I go in again. I'll do it like that because I already have the +activate bound and that gave me some trouble last time. Had to put in some weird code someone helped me with, don't know why the normal code didn't work. But thank you
  21. I personally always use /+activate to always activate the use key aka you won't have to press f to defrost, just aim already works. It does come with some setbacks like having to deactivate it when you want to open doors or pick up a different weapon and it occasionally automatically picks up a weapon when you come out of spawn protection. On the other hand, you don't pick up another weapon while trying to defrost someone. I personally once bound the command to a key, so I only have to press that key to activate, but otherwise you have to enter the command each time you start the game if you wanna use it.
  22. I finished the pyramid solitaire, but my score wasn't updated. It only updated when I didn't complete the level.
