So this is my second day home right now and I'm totally and utterly amazed by how well my recovery is going. I feel like myself again and I do still get pain meds for the surgery wound, but most of the things in the house I can do by myself by now. I can take walks outside of 5 minutes with my dad. I've got a lot of energy. And now the eating has started and what was supposedly gonna be difficult, is also going really well. Already my body seems to be able to handle many kinds of food. I do have to make sure that I eat my food very slowly and often, which means that a big chunk of my day I'm eating. If I get distracted by talking and eat quicker, I feel sick 15 minutes later. But that's just dizzy and tired and it's gone in 30 minutes. Already I ate 700 calories today and 45 grams protein (I need 90 after surgery) and my nightly fluid food (gavage?) adds another 1200 calories and half of proteins I need. It is gonna take me some time to find a rhythm in eating, so I won't need the extra help anymore, on average 2-3 months. But let's see what it's gonna be for me.
I'm just amazed. It was such a big surgery and now I already feel like myself again. Don't understand how it's possible, but VERY happy with it.
