  1. If you are a member, Costco has done me well.
  2. Don't cry because its over, smile because it happened.
  3. Lords, that looks like a smile coming from that mouth of yours! It pains me to think of what you are going thru, and proud of you to see that look in your face. I know that you have a long road in front of you, but stay strong, and remember all the thoughts and feelings from your friends here. Their strength and yours will help you thru these times. Look forward to playing with you again.
  4. How absolutely amazing to watch, and how incredibly helpless you would be.
  5. We are supposed to be going down to the lake this weekend (just my brother in law and me) to get the boat out of storage and prep the house for the summer. We finished up all the chores on the house last fall and didn't tell the wives that we were done so that we could have a free weekend to fish without them and the kids when we went down to open the house in the spring. It was in the 80's at the beginning of the week and I was looking forward to this weekend... Now it is Thursday night, I am supposed to leave for the lake at noon tomorrow, and it is 36 F, snowing, and expected to be the same for the next 4 days! I'm pissed.
  6. Prayers sent. Be strong, it will help you and your family.
  7. My BIL dis the egg hiding today. He tossed about 250 plastic eggs all around my in-laws yard. Lots of fun watching the kids (2 nephews and my 2 daughters) do the searching. My mom and dad were there as well, and they remember a time when I was young and my dad hid 4 dozen hard boiled eggs around the house. My brother, and 2 sisters found something like 42 of the eggs, and my dad could not remember where they all were. This was over 30 years ago, and at least two were found months later during summer vacation. They were only found due to the smell. Needless to say, that was the last time real eggs were ever used.
  8. blk_plague excellent post, I just saw it tonight for the first time. I have only watched the first 2 videos that you linked, but both of them hit close to me. My nephew is 5 years old an has a severe case of CP. His mother, my sister, is also a high school teacher, so I saw elements of both videos relevant to my family's life. Very touching, thank you for posting these.
  9. So sorry to hear of your loss. These type of friends who ask nothing of us are so special. In a few weeks it will be the 4th anniversary of the day I had to have my Lab, Patches put down after 15 years. I will never forget because it was 2 days before the birth of my youngest daughter. We adopted another Lab a year later, but I still come home after work, grab the leash, and accidently call out the wrong name every now and then. The pain has gotten less, but the memories are strong as ever. I wish you the strength to get thru this, and hope that you find another dog to fill, but not replace, this hole in your life. He can never be replaced, but another dog would love to give and receive the love that you have to give.
  10. That is hilarious. I am not a Jeff Gordon by any means, but now I have to like him (just a little bit)!
  11. "Volvos, Yes they are boxy, but they're safe" Dudley Moore
  12. Very funny!! Hard to believe they let that show on ABC Family.
  13. Probably the longest second of their life! Good pics.
  14. Very touching video. It really shows the unconditional love that a dog can provide.
  15. She is beautiful. I am out of town right now and this is making me miss my daughters (one of which appears to ge the same age) so much. Relish any amount of time you get with her. You will both grow from it.
  16. It's an outstanding show. I didn't want to see the show until I had read some of the books first. I finished the second book about 4 days before the 2nd season started on HBO last year. My wife and I blitzed thru the 1st season, just finishing less than an hour before the 2nd season premiere last year. We are eagerly waiting for season 3.
  17. the baby was awesome, but I also like the guy in the wheelchair.
  18. This is an example of the zero tolerance BS rules they have here in my local school district. There was a grade school age girl here who was playing with some other children on school property on a weekend afternoon one day last year. She mentioned to her teacher that one of the boys had a BB pistol. She was suspended for the semester!! It was later reduced to 10 days or something like that. Nothing happened to the other kids since none of them admitted what they had done. I personally have no tolerance for zero tolerance.
  19. I had the same experience. In college, we had to take a phys ed class of some sort, and one of my roomates was an avid golfer so I used his clubs. It was fun but I just never quite got bit with it. At my 15 year HS reunion we had a tournament and I joined with a couple of friends and fell into it heavily that year. I try to play but my job and kids have gotten in the way. I regret the years I had before family when I could have played often.
  20. The hot computer game we had when I was in college..........SOLITAIRE!!! One computer in a fraternity house with 66 residents, windows 3.1. If we had any of the online games that are around now when I was in class, I would never have graduated. Study hard and good luck.
  21. Happy Birthday, you don't sound a day over 63.
  22. A friend of mine used to intern in the emergency room. He used to have a couple of x-rays on his phone similar to these. One was a large section of a candle that had broken off well up there, and the other was a Star Wars figure. Looked like a stormtrooper or the tie fighter pilot.
