  1. As a test, I used the same proximity checks that are done for friendlies and thawing. Usually enemies are simply ignored. Instead it starts a timer. Currently 5 seconds. You either vacate the area around the player or you are suicided. Nobody gets a credit for a kill and its no different than if you naded yourself. If you leave the area the timer is cleared. So you can move outside of the player area and back in. Like the anti-camping checks or being underwater. But you will expose yourself if you do. Since its a script addition I can just upload that and restart the server with no downloads needed. Not an elegant solution but good enough?
  2. Dont recognize it but looks like PC. I did have some games for my PCjr back in jr high but not that one. Yes I had one of those. An IR keyboard was another one of those 'cool' things to have. As well as an actual basic color monitor.
  3. Its pinned at the top of the cod4 and cod5 forums. Along with instructions. Should be more than adequate.
  4. Ok I popped in for a quick round and yes the bubble needs to be fixed, or something else to compensate, so that you cannot hide inside of it. I would like to do something that doesnt require uploading a new ff and just a script addition but I will see what I can do. It would be a bit of a kluge for now but maybe a distance scan that if you are too close to a frozen enemy player you have five seconds to move or you will blow up. Shouldnt matter with friendlies since you are defrosting anyways. Maybe give credit for the kill to the frozen player. Say the same distance as it required for a friendly to defrost via proximity. I didnt notice a defrosting problem but must keep in mind that if you are at a distance you might be defrosting via the bubble not the player. If the bubble, and you are hitting the side of it not the center, eventually as it shrinks the beam will not be hitting it. Requiring you to readjust your aim a little bit to make or more on the smaller bubble or the player. Previously it was only the player and thus a smaller target. So really no different than trying to shoot the helicopter vs something the size of an RC.
  5. I remember when the Apple II was a big deal and really cool to use. Pain in the ass to carry around those 5 1/4 floppies around tho with those big cases.
  6. edit to above: To clarify: The beam is from the player 'eye' in world space not the gun. From the player view however it looks like its coming from the gun, which is just for show. So in a sense you are not defrosting with a gun but with laser beam eyes like Superman.
  7. 1: The jammer is a good opportunity to disable the car with emp since when he gets close he cannot blow himself up. The internal timer is no different than a grenade but obviously an electronic timer. Pull the pin so to speak and the timer starts. I tried three or four different kinds of jamming and this way is the most balanced for both the player and the RC. Sure he can follow you around and maybe get a single kill, or go elsewhere and try for two or three. No consolation to the dead player of course. 2: Having to readjust your aim sometimes is normal. Before you had to center directly on the player. Now you dont, if you so choose. So if you like the way it was before then do it that way and stick your sight on the player only and keep it there. As I said in the past the ability for easier defrosting took priority. This is especially true for weapons with higher sway. Most certainly any acog sights. 3: You never could defrost if an enemy is standing in the way on any ftag mod. Makes no sense that a beam should pass right through a solid player. For the technically minded, ftag mods do what is known as a 'bullettrace' that shoots a straight line from your gun in the direction you are looking at. It checks to see if the trace hits anything. If so a variety of information is sent back such as the entity hit (player or object), what kind of surface material, exact location in world space where it hit, direction normal to see which way the polygon at that spot is facing, and one or two other things. Helicopters use this to check if it can see you. Also things like sentryguns. Airstrikes use this to see where the cluster bombs hit. Also, for this to work with things like the bubble collision must be added otherwise it is invisible to the trace. Thus you could shoot enemies behind hit. To account for partial bubbles that only cover part of the player the trace looks for hits to the frozen player and the bubble he 'owns'. 4: The the firing of weapons, the only thing I can think of would require split second timing between respawn (after the death function are complete) and freezing where you can shoot a weapon but it might be possible. I have never seen that in testing but will look into it. But if this is the case I will do a couple script changes that should take care of it. However I have to make sure frozen players still drop their weapons. 5: If people are able to hide 'inside' a bubble then no that shouldnt be happening. If so there are a couple things I can try. But... this is not the same as hiding 'behind' a bubble but outside of it. Which they should be able to.
  8. If it happens regardless of the map then delete the mod and redownload it. If you are using old iwds or ff from a different server, or older mod, dont. The error means what the server has and what you have are not the same. Even tho the names are the same.
  9. I dont think anyone should be able to hide inside the bubble itself and shoot outside of it. But if this is confirmed to be happening let me know.
  10. You mean like a double KO? Well, yea. This is not new with the game. I am looking at whether or not one person or the other is doing this at the moment a player is respawned frozen. After all the 'death' stuff is done.
  11. Of course plenty out there get themselves a new man while still keeping the old man. Congrats.
  12. I would have to see it in action to get an idea of what the problem could be. No vid of it I suppose?
  13. That is not up to me but the current method was designed to work without the need for admins worrying about it all so they can just sit back and play the game. If someone is downloading for 15 minutes then hop on xfire and get an admin.
  14. You can defrost either by hitting the player or the iceberg. Before it was the player only. The ice was for show only. I suppose the reason it was 'easier' in the past was that you were forced to be dead center or it wouldnt work at all. I dont understand that second part. If he shot you then you are dead. No way you can fire.
  15. Well, if you pay for it. But the mod itself, 33 is likely the max number before it might start crashing. Actually I recommend no more than 24 players for servers but this one is currently doing ok. Did a lot of work to keep things as optimized as possible regarding max players but there are limits.
  16. I know what it is. The only thing the non-modded game can do is set aside the number of public and private slots. In this case say 22 for public, where anyone can use it. The other 10/11 would be considered 'private' and you need a pwd to join to use one of those slots. However you can never go above 22 public. So unless you use a pwd you cannot join as player 23. Or, if all slots are taken... 22 public players and 10/11 private... nobody can join even with a password and boot a public player. This will happen before any downloads. Now, this will not preclude someone using some external method outside of the game to boot someone before joining. Typically only senior admins with rcon access can.
  17. If two women hold totally oppposite viewpoints... are they both still right?
  18. A non-modded server? How do you mean?

Fucking BSOD!!! Does it starting windows from hdd and dvd. Also not posting very fast either. I can see if its a corrupt install, even tho its only a week or two old, but why the install disk also? I suppose I will have to just dismantle it again and start over. I am hoping I didnt fuck something up putting it back together. edit: ok works again, had to reseat the ram.

I didnt think about that. Yea I have some free ones since all its got right now is a gpu. I think. edit: Looks like the case came with a 3-2 adapter anyways so for now all is good.

Got my case today. Its very nice. It is also bigger in width and height by 2-3 inches. Which normally is a good thing. But I will have to put it in a different location so I dont bang into it. One thing I will have to do eventually is get some USB3to2 adapters for the front panel since my mb doesnt not support 3. However I knew that already and it can wait. edit: I forgot that as a gift years ago I was given a metal tower platform with wheels. So the clearance on the bottom for the powersupply with the rubber feet should be no problem.
  23. Hey all Is a sound card worth it over the built in realtek stuff? I dont have external speakers just a decent gaming headset (TB Z22). Either SB or this one, which with rebate is $18 right now. Kind of hard to pass up. http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-XONAR-Headphone-Audio-Card/dp/B0045JHJSS/ref=sr_1_1
  24. The F-35 doesnt have GPS and navigation? A communications sytem? Sensors? Fire control? Threat tracking? An OS? A media player? Ok... maybe not a media player. Maybe.
  25. Of course as always it depends on what something is meant to do and for how many people. I am actually surprised car software is that big. Its just a damn car. What exactly does it have to do that an F-35 doesnt?
