  1. HK. Yea thats a great map. I invite anyone that pushed to change the rotation to convince everybody else that doing so, before anybody else had the opportunity to try, was the right thing to ask for. Starport I am pretty sure was made for the Star Wars mod and most of those maps have problems. This one didnt seem to. But only way to know for sure is for a server with many people to play it. Also after seeing the problem gives me an opportunity to see why. Might be something as simple as changing one line.

My two cents, This 'everyone' then just decided that every other player than can do so only on the weekdays, or maybe too busy with work, with no opportunity to reach their own conclusions had no voice. Hardly a majority. Now others might not even know these maps were there. I suggest put the rotation back... or I will tonight if time isnt available... and let everybody decide not just 5 people that for all we know complain about anything new. There is a difference between doing what a few players want vs the good of the server in the long term. The good of the server is paramount but that is not the same as kowtowing to a few players that complain after even a single day. Imagine if I took out the car after one day, which most people hated in the beginning. Perhaps I should have done what they wanted immediately and took out out. Nobody else would ever have had the opportunity to try or even know about it. If these people want to feel what its like for everyone else I will simply shut it down for a couple weeks because 5 people hate it and then say too bad. Whoever these people are decided for you.

  6. 4 vs 4 would be a good balance. Probably needs more description on how all the tiers and such will work as well.

  8. That has always been one of the choices for all of the CoD games. Ammo capacity vs power vs accuracy vs rate of fire vs recoil. Whatever gunmodel it is, scar or others, it all comes down to which numbers you prefer. The saritch sacrifices ammo for accuracy. The various perks... or specialties... allow you to compensate. Saritch can benefit from scavenger. The HK from stopping power.
  9. That is one of the balances. The saritch is, according to many, the best weapon in the assault class and plenty powerful as it is. The balance is less ammo among other things. Scavenger is a pretty good perk to use to compensate. Also armor piercing. The tools are there for you. Use them. In case anyone didnt know, AP also ignores heli armor. So might be a good idea to preset one of your lmg classes with it to deal with helis. Also make sure to shoot at it while its facing away from you or at least behind cover. People trying to be Rambo with a SAW out in the open get shot. edit: Since it was brought up, the radius of the counter measures mine is the same as a betty.

  11. Most sniper maps are preceded by sniper clan names so easy to filter most of them out without bothering to test them. Also, many sniper maps will generate an error about missing entities when you try to load them. They are the two entities used to determine the bounds of the minimap. Which sniper maps dont have.

  13. And there is the problem. Fun depends on who you ask. There are maps in the old rotations that I can do without but others love.
  14. Will just add that never had a problem with my samsung. Dont remember when I installed it but at least 2 years old now. And yes, always have a big HDD for backing things up.

  16. health packs stop bleeding. Everywhere. Others are working on map lists. As for why they wont work on the mod the reasons are known. As for why they arent all in the rotations, its because too many people complain about new maps.
  17. Could be that those that turn into a car faster have the sleight of hand perk so raising the pad is faster. Not sure but maybe some are using that quick raise trick. Have to check that one out to see if it works in this case.

  20. A few additions or tweaks coming up in the next couple weeks. Will see how they work out. 1: Raising bonus points for shooting bunnies in the air to 100. Doing this because many are using the fps exploit, which most either cant or dont know how, to jump like kangaroos. Dont want to prevent players from doing that, which would be difficult at best anyways, but to encourage learning how to counter it. 2: Hacker. If you have hacker (before you are frozen) and an enemy calls a defroster, the hacker will fool it into thinking he is a friendly and defrost him. No messages that this happened. You must watch your defroster and see who is defrosted. 3: Spawn protection. Too many people are using the 'quick raise' exploit to pop out of spawn protection and shoot someone instantly. There is also no counter for it even if you are really good. Looking into a couple options on how to do it but the jist is that the last two seconds you are visible with no weapon but still protected. The usual suspects here that do this will hate it but its a matter of fairness. Back in the day, good sportsmanship dictated in UT that you use spawn protection to find a place to take cover. Not use it as protection so you can shoot someone when it was over. But as we all know, these days good sportsmanship is too often thrown out the window in favor of any exploit that will get you a kill. 4: As the smaw lovers know, currently they can track spawn protected players. An oversight on my part and will be fixed. 5: countermeasures activation time will be lowered a bit. This item was originally added, for among other reasons, as rc-xd protection to destroy it with emp if you stay within the protection radius. A double edged sword tho. You are protected but stuck there. Pretty effective which is why you only get one. However because the speed of the car is double than the default some have learned how beat the activation time. 6: some may have already noticed but using health packs, either on yourself or to revive, has been made faster to balance having to stand there defenseless to do it. So when you get infected with venom, use them. 7: Flak jacket made a little more effective against the car. Not full proof by any measure, especially if the car is near your feet, but will have better protection against cars at a distance. 8: If you lay down and hide in the middle of a corpse of a player that had venom, after 10 seconds you are infected unless you have combat medic. Ok no I didnt do that one. But was a fun thought. 9: Currently the SAM launcher will fire back at an enemy artillery launcher after 8 seconds from its spawn time. Reducing that to 5 to make it more effective. 10: AFK players. Admins will always be the ones whether or not to kick. However if, on spawn, a player never moves even one inch he can still be killed but it wont count towards a streak. Also done for fairness since the AFK team shouldnt be penalized because someone is talking on the phone but wont go to spectate first.
  21. Just so you know how this works: The heli checks for targets every 1/2 second. 1: Get a list of all players. Nothing is known about them. 2: Start filtering by removing which ones 'fail' checks. The more you can narrow down this list the better it is for performance. Do the more common ones first and end checking on the first failure and go to the next player. 3: The first is whether or not you are frozen. The next is simple distance (this is not the actual recognition check). Are you even close enough to even be seen in the first place. On bigger maps many player checks fail here also depending on how close to the center the heli is. Next, filter out friendlies and spectators. By now at least %50 have failed. Usually more. If the enemy team is losing badly then that might even go up to %90. Check for spawn protection (spawn protection ends when the timer ends not when the weapon is fully raised). Check for stealth. Note that for stealth, as shown in the hints, that if you fire a non-silenced weapon this check 'passes'. 4: Run a sight trace to the target. This is the last step since it is the most expensive to do. Sight traces work by 'how much' of the target is seen. Meaning that the heli has to see a certain percentage of the player or more to remain valid. By default at least %50. If less than that the checks fail. Go to the next player. If the check passes, add to the valid target list. 5: At this point everyone remaining on the list can be seen and is a potential target. However threat factors are now involved. Players shooting at the heli have the highest threat level. Especially those with machine guns. It is also based on distance. The closer you are the higher the threat level. The player with the highest threat level is now attacked if the heli is not otherwise already engaged and the turret can actually turn far enough towards him. If everyone else is taking cover or keeping out of sight, and you choose to come out of spawn in the open, you are the only threat. So, if you are spawn protected... meaning the timer hasnt reached zero... the check fails at #3 and the heli doesnt check whether or not it can see you or how much of a threat you are. Also, for those that get the stealth heli that patrols above you, it is better for you to remain near the center of the map to maximize the number of potential targets.

  23. No its not tracking you while you are in spawn protection. But as soon as you are out you are added to the list of potential targets and it will do so very fast. If for some reason you still choose to become visible out in the open right then, instead of maybe hiding under one of those wooden roofs in the vid, then you are likely the only player its going to see. Everyone else is keeping out of view so they dont get shot. And then it will shoot at you as the only valid target. And no again, thats not the answer. Stealth is there so you can change your loadout before defrost if helis or sentryguns are on the map. Maybe get combat medic at such times to give you longer spawn protection and more opportunity to find other safe locations out of view. The answer is for people to adapt to the situation and use the tools provided when they are needed.
