I hated to use RconMax so much I didn't even install it after I built this PC in the spring of 2014. They even got the tool-tip timing in that damn thing wrong. They must have mistaken 5 seconds for .5 seconds, so when you hover over a button wondering what the hell it's for (because they are that non-intuitive,) it takes what seems like forever to get the tip to pop up. idk. Maybe it's better, but I've not found anything I can do in RconMax that I can't do in HLSW. And I think HLSW just uses Rcon commands anyway, right? So if I can't kick in HLSW, I don't think I have any better chance in RconMax. Maybe I'll install it again, if I can ever stop choking back the vomit just thinking about it.

Hmm. I never think about the aacp. Thanks for reminding me about that, @@Hunter @@Labob - I seem to remember a conversation some time ago about this. Merlin would probably remember it better since NFT is his baby. I remember looking at the connection timeout value, and it's set just like the ACEMOD servers, but the NFT server seems to ignore it. I will say, though, it would be far more convenient for me to be able to just go in via HLSW without starting the game when I'm in the middle of doing some other work. I have no idea why I can't kick a duplicate q-port on NFT using HLSW. I think I can on DM1/2.

Unfortunately, I've found that I can't kick someone when they come in to TeamSpeak or Discord and ask. There's something about the NFT server that really locks a player up when they crash at the end of a game and go duplicate q-port as a result. Short of restarting the server, I really don't know what to do. This seems to be mod specific, and although you can get a duplicate q-port on ACEMOD just as easily as on the FreezeTag mod, for whatever reason ACEMOD is honoring our short timeout setting for a duplicate q-port whereas FreezeTag is ignoring the timeout setting and being real pissy about it. Y'all might consider going to play on DM1 for the rest of whatever map is running there, then return to NFT. Not an ideal solution, but it keeps you playing.

Install PingPlotter which installs a free trial of the full version, but lets you switch to the freeware version at any time, or at the end of the trial period. This software lets you see precisely where along your route the connection is borking out. You can take and post screenshots like this one which is pinging COD5 DM1 (and coincidentally COD4 FT1 which is at the same IP, but different port.) Note that the seemingly problematic node at hop 12 shown here is not really a problem. It is probably a high traffic node on the peering network that is set to actively ignore ping requests when it is servicing higher priority packets (which is just about everything else.) What's really important here is the Avg column. Also note that this trace is set to ping all nodes at a 1 sec interval, and the graph represents the readings over the last 30 minutes. So my average ping to COD5 DM1 (COD4 FT1) is around 43ms and the worst is just under 110ms. I should think the solution would be obvious. If your ass looks like your beard, use beard trimmers. Butt, if you simply must shave so your butt is as smooth as a baby's, do as babies do - use talcum powder. Prevents rashes; dries naturally. Thanks to all the Vets. I for one am glad to have served in the USAF. Super fun time. Okay, not always, but I would totally do it all over again, and I bet it would be twice as fun the second time around.

This is quite the conundrum. You don't want Windows 10, yet even this site is a PITA with what you have. So let's start with the obvious question - what is it about Windows 10 that makes you not want it? And one more question, if I may, since I don't quite see how the version of Windows relates to this site being a PITA, what is it about this site that's a pain in the ass on your current versions of Windows?

8.0 was a bit of a zero. See what I did there? 8.1 absolutely rocked! Very stable with games. Never a problem. 10? Well, it's coming out of the gate very strong, but like most versions of Windows, it needs a few updates to smooth out the wrinkles. We've had several of those updates now and things are running pretty smooth. Same great stability in games. I don't disagree that a clean install is a great idea, but it's often impractical, impossible (as in doing the free upgrade to 10 from 7 or 8.x), or just a complete pain in the ass to do given that you have to reinstall everything else you have. And one thing has been said is that in-place upgrades have gotten steadily and significantly better over time to the point where a "clean" install isn't necessarily the only way to go. I'm on a box upgraded from 8.1 right now and all is well. Stuff like File History make it awesome (debuted in 8.x) and forced Windows updates make it not so awesome. Try dealing with that crap on a PC that must remain up 24/7 like my Internet radio station's computer. Having Windows decide it wants to schedule a reboot at 2:30am is just plain crap. But, yes, you can defer the forced reboot, and for most people it's not a big deal. Finally the Win 10 Start menu is just plain awesome. I laugh at Start menu replacements for 10. I consider them a completely wasted effort on the part of the developer. @@Joe Canadian - Since you have a clean install of 7, you are actually in a very good position to in-place upgrade to 10 for free. Others may flame at me for saying any of this, but the bottom line is that the features and stability of 10 are superior to 7 or 8.x. More so from 7 to 10, but from 8.1 to 10 was a great move, too.
