Have to agree with others those poor clerks and cashiers lots of times have to make up the losses or loose their jobs. I bet you made her feel grateful and like you said you felt better returning the money. I had the privilege of knowing a couple (my dad worked for them in the 60's) They were Millionaires but you would never have known. They always said if God blessed you, you had an obligation to share. Share they did: Every month until his death into his 90's the husband had my dad go to the market and by cases of vegetables, meat and produce for the food banks. He read in the news paper about a woman dieing of cancer and her only wish was to die at home. He took his check book to the home and wrote a check to the husband to pay for all the nursing care until the woman passed away. The wife was exactly the same. Before and after the husband passed away she continued on with the charity work until she passed away this summer. This couple touched the lives of many with their giving. They asked for nothing in return and actually did all this good work behind the scenes with no recognition. Good people doing Gods work. Imagine the power behind a good deed. One of our very best friend SGT Scott on FT1 lost his wife to cancer and he spoke with Manthis many times to console her. Scott is one of those folks everyone in the server loves.
