  1. Happy Birthday Olive. Don't worry about closing in on 50, it doesn't hurt that bad.
  2. Bought a NetGear N600 WNDR3400 a year or so ago. Same situation, 90' house, brick. Strong signal throughout the house & even out to end of the property. I don't broadcast my SSID.
  3. Oh man LOC. Burns are the worst. Hang in there, relax & listen to everything the doctors/therapists tell you. Don't be a hero, take ALL the pain meds offered. PS, had to edit this, spelling error....and my hands aren't burned, d'oh!
  4. Oh, just gotta post this one.
  5. Happy Birthday Whiteboy. Have a great day!
  6. I just thought Pete was always shadow-ee.
  7. Laddie, you said it was a sunny afternoon...in England? And you were STILL indoors typing? Now THAT is dedication. Congrats, but it's not a medal for the weak or faint of heart.
  8. Migrated to win7 pro yesterday. Ran into the same issues. Had to ditch my old SoundBlaster live, disable autorun. Run as admin, run in xp compatible mode.....etc. Up and rolling now, & COD2 never ran so smooth & pretty. Good thing too, was going into gaming withdrawals. Forgot how many map downloads we had. Loaded game & walked away for a couple hours while it slurped up all the .iwd's. I really have a hankering for a Spanky beatdown.
  9. Happy Birthday Ping!
  10. Happy Birhday NG, have yourself a great day!
  11. That gave me chills........
  12. OK Techno, I restored the filesystem....whew. Closed my eyes & said "Y" to restore *HPFS NTFS. Damn that was scary. That drive isn't bootable, but it's readable now.
  13. Happy Birthday & have a great day!
  14. LOL, right now I'm typing this in FireFox running kernel 3.7.9. I have testdisk on another desktop with my harddrive analysist completed. The NTFS file system reports incorrect cylinder amount 255 vs. 240. All my files are available, just need to mount another device to copy crucial files. I don't have the guts to press enter to repair MBR......yet.
  15. I don't think it's the phone. Maybe Joe is untrainable, eh? A couple cooked nades or a bash might bring him around.
  16. What are you using for X? I was never fond of KDE or GNOME. I'm going to throw another hard drive in my box & go back to dual-booting. Might just run Slackware for everyday & boot to Win 7 for gaming, after all, it's down to $60 for a builders' copy.
  17. DOS 5.0....TheLastStableDOS. Still running XP pro, but it's getting too long in the tooth for gaming. Believe me, if Linux could play WAW well, I wouldn't have a Windows machine.
  18. Happy Birthday Petey, ya pain in the.......Oh Hell, Have a great day & many more!
  19. Damn, it said I was 37. No wonder Bullet kicks my arse.
  20. Yes Techno, data saved. Thanks to a couple of Linux bootable solutions. Parted Magic & System Rescue, both with command line & graphical interface. Can't beat the command line if you want things done NOW (jetzt!). I love tiny kernels. They point you to your files/executable, and step out of the way.
  21. I'll have a look, now that I'm saved....lol. I meant earlier that Billy takes royalties from ANTI-virus software developers. I'm sure you folks didn't believe he supports virus creators (or maybe MS does, they'll steal code from anybody). I'm disappointed OS/2 didn't kill off Microsoft. That was one hell of an operating system. Stable as a rock, and a multi-tasking monster. As a plus, it could emulate Windows and do it with one hand tied behind its' back. OS/2 was the entire reason Win95 was written. And a whole new generation was raised on reboots, crashes, and the BSOD. And they thought it was normal. Amazing what attrocities you can become accustomed to.
  22. Right, I'll fly the St.George's flag (under the Stars & Stripes) for you Englishmen tomorrow. Might even open a pint of Fullers. You better appreciate it! From a Yankee Paddy. Even Brophy's were proud of the empire.
  23. That's nice. Now why doesn't Winduhz recognize other file systems. Oh yeah, something about property rights and agreements with virus software developers. Billy gets a royalty from them as long as MS doesn't include advanced tools in their operating systems. Cute business model.
  24. Hey Hey Bückling! Happy Birthday Dude! Prost!
  25. Ahhh, leave it to the Linux gang. Parted Magic & System Rescue! Both available under the GNU license as bootable ISO's.
