SgtHarryWeezer That sounds better than some of my old bluegrass records. Thanks for sharing. My father played steel guitar in a country band for many years and we've got some of that. But it's on the even older wire recorder. Ive heard about those but never seen one !!! I need to google "wire recorder" and check it out. Do you still have the thing ?

My Aunt and Uncle always played music. In the early to mid 70's I remember going to their shows (local bars) with my parents, and we as a family are close. My Uncle passed away a few years ago and I always remembered seeing all these tapes and a big tape recorder on a shelf at their house. I asked my Aunt if they recorded stuff and if so I'd like to move it over to digital. She said "Yes" and that the tape deck was broke and that she had not listened to the stuff in years. She gave me 36 Reel to Reel tapes !!! I have digitized about half. It has been a chore. These tapes date from the late 50's through the early 70's. If anyone is familiar with 1/4 inch tape, they know the horrors involved. Many had the "sticky tape" problem, which baking in the oven cured. Some had been recorded over so many time, the "cross talk" was bad. Many are mono recordings, with each of the 4 tracks having different recordings. Some had drop out and were damaged. So its been a learning experience. I did alot of noise reduction, compression, doubling, and other processes to try to bring life to these family tapes. Im going to start a web site dedicated to their stuff at some point, but for now I will post a few tunes. This is "OLD SCHOOL COUNTRY & BLUEGRASS. They were recorded with one mic or two (mono or stereo) on a consumer stereo reel to reel. My uncle played guitar and sang, my Aunt plays bass and sings, my cousin was the drummer (when the tune had drums) and a friend of theirs played banjo. Hope you enjoy. Over Thanksgiving I mixed up a cover of Neil Youngs "Rockin In The Free World". During the family get togethers we jam some and this is what came about. Its me , my cousins and my daughter singing. We laid down the vocal,drums,bass and one guitar track on the first take. I then overdubbed a second rhythm guitar track and a quicky lead guitar track. Hoth On that note where are you out of Mike B I'm only about 1.5 hrs from Riverbend? Would have hit that show as well if it wasn't for other plans I had before they announced this tour. Im about an 1 hour and 50 minutes north of Cincy (1 1/2 on a good traffic day). Im my 40 some years, its my first Kiss concert. Seems everytime they came to Hara Arena (Dayton, Ohio), or Columbus, in my youth, I was always busy. My son came home from the Navy for leave and he got us the tickets. Saw Weezer saturday, but didnt take my camera. They were great too.

Thanks Ted. My son is in the Navy and after graduating boot camp, him and a few friends went into Chicago. While walking down the street they were approached by some young kids who called them "Baby Killers" and spit at them. During boot camp they were taught to expect this type of reaction from a few people. On of my sons shipmates went after them and my son had to pull him back. If they would have kicked the kids asses they would have been in hot water. While the attitude towards military men and women has changed for the better, there are still dumb asses who, just dont get it. The freedom these jerks have is because of our troops and the sacrifice they make or made.

Id like to volunteer my services to anyone making a new map. Id like to do some soundtracks for them. While Im mostly an old school type rocker, I can play anything. So if some one making a map wants some tunes for it let me know. It will give me something to do instead of getting killed all the time.

One of my daughters best friend and a friend of his, came out to record a few acoustic tunes. I didnt know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. This is my favorite of the three and the vocalist voice is so nice. It was a quick reocrding and once they get enough material we paln on re-doing this quick mix. Enjoy.
