Cross - I have one corner of your map more or less completed on the terrain. Let me know if this look okay to you and I will do the other three corners.

I am intentionally making the map unplayable to Mac users. Just another way to build in my firewall against PingLo!

Starting to do some detail work to define the playing area and methods for traversing from valley to mountain. In the overhead image above, essentially the center mountain area between the X and the I will be the playable area.

Everyone acts like there is a cheater lurking around every corner. Some people are actually good at these games. Really good. And sure, some people use cheats. I was personally banned from several COD2 CTF servers back in the day, and I have never used a game cheat of any kind - not even on the original single player Doom. Why? Because my ratio was too high, or I got too many flag pulls, or whatever some bullshit reason was that an admin came up with. Unfortunately the admins can only use the tools available to them and I personally would prefer them to err on the side of caution. Hopefully, as Flush said, upcoming patches to BF3 will help alleviate some of this. In the end playing games should be fun - that's the bottom line. If you can't have fun because you suspect a cheater is around every corner, you might need to re-evaluate why you play. Our admins are good what they do and they will get the cheaters sooner or later. Just hang in there and have fun.

How bad is your internet connection? Can always buy it through Steam and download it. Someone posted about this on the forums before I think - did you try a search?

Don't put it in the dumpster. I have done that with a lot of maps so I know how it goes - but this one looks promising. Lastly - don't "over paint it." I think we all have a tendency to continue to tweak and muddle with our stuff even when it is more or less ready to go. Kind of like a painter who, once the painting is actually completed, continues to mess with it.

The one I am working on is 12x13. But I think the playing area will be 6x9.

After that game you had last night I was beginning to think you were really Drama Llama and just trying to get one over on us. But then he showed up and played at the same time.... Starting to get some shape to it. Got the valley floors all terrain patched up - started doing some texture shading, adding in some terrain features to the top level and started on the tunnels.

Welcome to the forum - we are going to have to come up with a short or alternative name to keep from confusing you and the other Princess. You are a good player and it is a pleasure to have you on the same team in ftag. Not so much when you are on the other team, though.

The whole Ender's series (both the original three and the second three) are good, I agree. I also like some military sci-fi stuff. Anything by Jerry Pournelle, and the stuff he wrote with Larry Niven. Plus, any other Card stuff - Hart's Hope is an awesome book.

Stuck care package? Some maps don't have high enough ceilings. It's not you, it's the map. You should break up with it.

I am book 9 of the Malazan series now - I also read Ian Esselmont's books which are set in the same world. If you like these and the Rothfuss books try Robin Hobb and Gregory Keyes out.

I have never had a nuke. But I am sure as hell sick of dying from them because some jack ass got 4 kills.

Just be careful it isn't too huge if you intend to get it on the ftag servers. Big maps and ftag tend to not go that well together.

It is going to be called "The Valleys of XI" - and I may have been a bit ambitious on the scale. Your typical terrain-style map. Will have tunnels, high vantage points, etc. Here is the general layout so far: And here is an idea of what the scale is like for the size of the valleys: Have a lot of work ahead of me - mountains/terrain to surround it, have to do terrain for the valley floors, add in tunnels, some hills, boulders, etc. And I was thinking one or two large house type buildings... not sure on that I hate making them.
