  7. Not a movie, but I highly recommend the show "Strike Back." Three seasons full of awesome action goodness, and the occasional hot naked woman.
  8. Good grief I watched these two for over an hour today. Hilarious.

  10. Seems like the most logical solution. Inmates also get free healthcare. What's not to love? I am guessing the ass raping is something not to love....
  11. You need to make a ban appeal in the appeals forum on this web site.
  12. Happy 29th birthday Giggler!
  13. It could be worse - you could have one that no one respond to, like me. ::
  14. Yeah LOM, but if we did that then Canada would also get the Blackhawks, and they could actually claim they have a good hockey team then.
  15. And by the way, I am not disputing your original data, or your original conclusion that an accusation that the violent crime rate in the UK is 3x that of Canada was bullshit. I am just suggesting that it is not incomprehensible that someone would THINK that, given historical data and media reporting on such data.
  16. From a variety of sources, all of which are not current (some of which are seven years out-of-date) and put together by a private unofficial body. Does looking at historical data inform us today if we are not seeking to analyse a trend? Yeah, I am not going to go through all of the most current data collected by the UN (which looks like 2010 data to me) but if I will post this bit: Assaults United States - 250.9 / 100000 citizens Canada - 161 / 100000 citizens United Kingdom (England and Wales) - 664.4 Sexual Assaults No data for United States in their Excel Spreadsheet Canada - 10.6 / 100000 (2010), 8 / 100000 (2009) United Kingdom (England and Wales) - no data for 2010. 2009 number: 31.8 / 100000 Robbery United States - 115.3 / 100000 Canada - 89.4 / 100000 UK (E&W) - 137.9 / 100000 Kidnapping No data for U.S. Canada - 12.7 / 100000 UK (E&W) - 3.1 / 100000 Homicide U.S. - 4.8 / 100000 Canada - 1.6 / 100000 UK (only data in the spreadsheet is for all of GB and N. Ireland) - 1.2 / 100000 That's from the most recent published dataset from the UN Office of Drugs and Crime (http://www.unodc.org/unodc/en/data-and-analysis/statistics/crime.html). I think you could parse those stats to get to a 3:1 violent crime ratio between the UK and Canada if you look at assaults (sexual or otherwise), and robbery. The other two major violent crime categories are negligible (homicides and kidnappings, although you could always retort that canada has 4 times as many kidnappings as the UK). Assault ratio: 4.12 times more assaults in England in 2010 than in Canada Sexual assault ratio: 3.8 times more sexual assaults in England in 2010 than in Canada Robbery ratio: 1.54 times more robbery in England in 2010 than in Canada
  17. Click through and you will find that: i) The story is dated July 2009; ii) The story is published in a tabloid comic masquerading as a newspaper, called "The Mail". iii) The article states "The figures, compiled by the Tories, are considered the most accurate and up-to-date available." (The "Tories" are the Conservative Party who were the Opposition at the time that the article was published, 3½ years ago.) That, my friend, is why my sources are the relevant governments. (Edit to correct typo.) Yeah that was my point, except I was too lazy to expound on it. We have poor media sources that give us false or even hyperbolic information, and that gets spread word-of-mouth or whatever until someone somewhere tells a guy who isn't too lazy to look it up that the UK has "three times" the violent crime as Canada. I do think those stats (the last link I posted, which has stats compiled from a UN data source for 2010-11) are interesting to look at.
  18. Here is an interesting summary of crime stats comparing 36 different countries. http://www.civitas.org.uk/crime/crime_stats_oecdjan2012.pdf
  19. It's probably because of things like this: http://warnewsupdates.blogspot.com/2012/12/what-country-has-most-violent-crime.html That give the UK that perception.
  20. I missed you you fucker. Good to have you back to help pad my stats.
  21. Once again, you are confusing terms. "Responsible" does not equal "licensed." In a free society you are always going to have people who disobey the law. They are irresponsible people. Whether it is a couple of asshats firing their AK-47 in the backyard while drinking and smoking weed, or whether it's those same two asshats getting behind the wheel of a car after drinking and smoking weed. That's why we have laws and enforcement of said laws. If the premise of Gorilla's original link is RESPONSIBLE gun ownership, I'd like it if you could stick to the goddamn topic.
  22. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! <deep breath> !NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! <cough> <whimper> no...
  23. I don't think that two guys who were drinking, had drugs on them, and decided to shoot weapons in their backyard adds up to "responsible." Therefore, I don't see what your link has to do with Gorilla's. One more note - I don't think that additional gun control laws will in any way stop the felonious activities of people like the two idiots in the article you referenced, either. Clearly they are already of a mind to flirt with - and defy - the law.
  24. Send a letter to Adrian Peterson and get on his rehab program - and you too could be crack the 2000 yard mark next year in the NFL! GO TWINKIE!
