  1. To remove viri from Macs, take a gallon of gas and a match...................
  2. Same thing with my old mouse. Broken wire at the front entry where it goes into the mouse. Really hard to diagnose because it was so intermittant. I had three or four old mouses lying aroud so I dissected them to get a good cord. The cord are usually plug in but the connectors are different. First cord (stock) lasted about a year, second is still on mouse but has been replaced with a RAT 7. Hope it helps.. If you decide to take apart your mouse , take good pictures and wacth carefully. There are small springs that choose totally random moments to escape.
  3. Manure Spreader for Sale: Fifty-year old manure spreader. Not sure of brand. Said to have been produced in Kenya. Used for a few years in Indonesia before being smuggled into the US via Hawaii. Of questionable pedigree. Does not appear to have ever been worked hard. Apparently it was pampered by various owners over the years. It doesn't work very often, but when it does it can really sling the manure for amazing distances. I am hoping to retire the manure spreader next November. I really don't want it hanging around getting in the way. I would prefer a foreign buyer to relocate the manure spreader out of the country. I would be willing to trade it for a nicely framed copy of the United States Constitution. Location: Currently being stored in a big white house in Washington , D.C.
  4. Hopes and prayers your way Cobra.
  5. Rat7 or 9. The wired vs. unwired talk is now of na avail. The response times of unwired are about 2 milisecs different slower than a wired. Not enough to matter. As for the keyboard Ii have a Saitek Cyborg. It's ok for FPS but if you play WoW or other games where you need to see hit-points or other the G19 seems to be the best. Go to Maximum PC and check out the best of the best area. Up near the top of the site there is a small red stripe that has how-tos, software, reviews and Best of the best. Click on the tab and scroll down to keyboards then to mice to see their picks. A good keyboard has a built in function called anti-bounce. This keeps the keys from accidentally hitting twice. Have you ever been typing and seen two letters pop up when you know you only hit the key once? Thats bounce. In a game if you do something like throw a grenade and the key "bounces" you waste time throwing two grenades. Not good and rare but it does happen. Buy a good gaming keyboard. Check the fit of your hand against it if you have a Fry's or Best Buy around. I played with the Microsoft Ergo style for a while but found the distance from the wsad keys to the hjym keys too far. It splits at athese letters and you need them closer together for speed. Get a good head set too. Speakers sound good but don't give good accoustical feedback as where an opponent might be. In a game of 6-8 people I can hear people very far away with my Creative Fatal1ty series headset. A definate advantage in a small game. Cheers and good luck!
  6. Congrats Dada2. Great tohave you asa part of the clan.
  7. I got mine from piratebay. I virus checked it before I ran it so it was clean. The virus was from before I d/led balck edition. I'm in the process of comparing my valid XP disk to the Black Edition and will make a slipstreamed version of mine just like the d/led version. I'll be using nLite to do the build process.
  8. I was trying to reinstall my OS but hit a big snafu. After a bunch of tries and failures I found out I had a virus. Webroot, MS Security, McAffee, and AVG didn't see it. To make a three day ordeal short, the virus was on BOTH my hard drives and had hidden itself in a hidden partition. When I reformatted one drive it would reload itself, making a backup. I had data on one drive that was very important so I couldn't just reformat both drives. I eventually used a Linux disk (all attempts thru windows based programs failed) and G-Parted to see the hidden partition BUT Icouldn't format it. ???? Well, I moved the data to my other drive and used Samsung's ESTools (Samsung drives in my system) to "reclaim" the partition in a menu called DoC or something like that. Windows, G_parted, Asuse Partition Magic would not format it until it was reclaimed. The New size now equaled the Current size and I low-level formatted it. I used Linux Slitaz distro to move the files off disk 1 to the newly formatted disk 2. I checked disk 1 and it had a hidden partition so I repeated the above. The hidden partitions were 7 and 10 gigs. I reclaimed reformatted and reinstalled XP after a couple of checks. Now everything seems to be up to par. Things to look for: 1. 2 identicle drives that have different sizes. 2. A quick flash when booting signaling the change to a separate boot partition. 3.Crashes requiring a reboot after installing new programs. I think this was taking a snapshot of my desktop and crashing to reload new config. 4. After moving desktop icons a flash and/or randomly moving icons to where thet "were". I advise everyone to get a copy of their disk drives software and check for uneven sizes. This was the key to me finding this virus. I have a fairly secure setup running thru a hardware firewall and software firewall also. Webroot is store bought A/V and up to date. All updates are current and I have BIOS protection enabled on my mobo. Anyway sorry for the long post. I hope it helps someone.
  9. It's sata drivers not wanting to play with XP. I'll have to slipstream the drivers into the Black edition and retry. Also check my other post about the virus I was fighting.
  10. A bit of bad news here guys. A pitbull jumped a fence and killed a friend of mines father. My prayers are out to him and his family. My daughter is really upset because the dog belongs to my daughters 1/2 brothers girlfriend and she is very close to them. Please pray for The Hurst family and my daughter. Thanks.

  13. My computer crashed the other day. Recovered all my files OK but would like to install the infamous Black edition of XP. I've got a copy (but will use my valid serial#). Problem is, when I try to install it has given me various faults. No bootmgr, missing nl.dll and now: STOP: To protect your computer blah blah blah Error Code 0x0000007b 0xf78da524 0xc0000034 0x00000000 0x00000000 I have tried to install many times but it always fails. I'm d/l a different copy to try next but would like your thoughts as to a way to fix it. I can install regular windows ok and I have run killdisk and Samsung ESTools to lowlevel format the drive (Samsung Spinpoint HD502IJ). The black edition is a slipstreamed version of XP. It has a bunch of MS BS removed and give a smaller footprint. It allegedly runs faster due to all the unneeded background services being removed. Thanks for the help guys.
  14. Thanks guys. I didn't rteally know if I wanted to persue this or not. But off of Weezer comments, it looks like II will. I already knew about getting an editor but was needing a bit of pre-submission guidance. Again, Thanks greatly.
  15. Hi guys. Looking for a little help. I'm in the process of writng a book and have a couple excerpts here. If your up to it (and can read ) please look it over and give a bit of critisism. Don't just say it's good. I plan on getting it published and need real truthful info. Don't worry about hurting my feelings or anything. Point out typo's, grammatical errors, timeline flaws or any thing else you might see. I appeciate your time and feedback guys and gals. Thanks in advance. Yoda Back ground info on the story. A boy accidentaly kills someone and is scared and runs away. He meets with a group of people and the "other chapter" is in a town they travel to. He grows up and is telling his story to a bunch of bar patrons years later. Running Away “You don’t understand, sir. I was running for my life! Young confused…….I didn’t……” “There you go again old man.” Interrupted Jakob. “ You talk as if you were there.” ‘Quiet Jakob. Let him talk.” Threatened the Page’s son. “Yes. I’m sorry but I’ve told these stories so many times they seem real to me. I slip off into the memories. But alas my friend. He didn’t know where to go, what to do.” Graf continued as a tear slipped down his cheek. “He was running as fast as a child could run away from the sound of the hunting dogs.” “Blindly fleeing deeper into the forest, he crested a small ridge when a bush, yes a bush……” he Held up a palm to the astonished gasp of the small lad “jumped up and grabbed him.” I was simply scared and quickly overpowered by the leafy beast, and a beast it was! I looked into the eyes as a tan cloth covered my face. The cinnamon smell caused a calmness to overcome me. My eyes blurred in and out. I saw the movement of many of these living bushes moving about flinging a powder about the ground. “ A powder, sir?” inquired the lad. “ Yes, I believe so. But that was when I lost my senses.” The boys eyes widened as he asked “Did you die?” drawing a few laughs and smiles from across the room. “Hummmm. Interesting question, boy. But if I died would I be here telling the story?” “Oh.” He managed, slumping his shoulders in an embarrassed response. “Sit straight son! Do not loose your pride over something as meaningless as an unthought question!” I paused a minute to take a bite of my meal. “ Continue, sir!” came a cry from the back of the room. “Yes, please continue Graf.” Yelled Bombadil from behind the counter. “You always seem to cause good business!" “Time! Time for an old man to collect his thoughts. No, son, I didn’t die. I woke up as the sun peeked over the hills to the east. I had no idea where I was. The surrounding area was unfamiliar to me. I could smell a fire and could hear a low mumbled conversation some distance a way. “ I was afraid to move even though I was unbound.” After a time of listening and observing what I could, I chose to slowly roll over trying to see more. “ He’s awake Cly. Get Kreiger. Up, boy. Time to eat.” He said with a tap to my foot. Shyly I rose, unsure of my surroundings and unsure of my destiny. Shuffling toward the small campfire, I took note of the surroundings and group of men around me. Three men were here. One tending the pan on the fire and two on watch. As I approached the fire, the man scooped out some eggs and a piece of meat onto a wooden plate and said “Eat up, son. We be havin’ a long trek ahead.” I took the plate with a feeling of impending doom, knowing they were going to take me back to the castle. Back to my death. As I ate a tall man with short cropped red hair approached. He took a plate with a small pile of eggs and sat beside me. He said nothing for a while, then asked where I was headed to. I thought for a second and said nowhere in particular. He sat for a while more, thinking deeply about something and stated ”You’re a free man but them guys was after you for a good reason. You can go with us for a while but you’ll have to earn your keep.” I accepted my good fortune as it was. No questions asked. As we traveled, I got the feeling that we were purposely avoiding roads and populated areas. We kept fed by hunting and berry picking plus a little dried traveling foods that Kreiger and the others already had stored. We were on a seldom used trail along side a small brook that was flowing from the mountains. Off and on through the journey different men would ride up and speak in hushed tones to Polo or Kell. The men would then disappear back into the forest while Polo or Kell would leave for an hour or two then return. I figured it was a type of lookout or communication system. Once, while traveling up a valley, we stopped to camp at the base of a big mountain. I could see smoke from a distant village and could oft times smell bread cooking, making me very hungry. Later that day everyone left except me and Bur. Bur looked quite nervous and kept looking around as if to see something. We didn’t start a fire that day, but had dried fruits and meat to eat. Just before dark, Cly came running into camp ordering us to pack up. Bur jumped and grabbed everything and started to throw it all in a sack. Cly started saddling the rest of the horses. Cly told me to get on a horse and head northward deeper into the mountains. He said to there was a small cave near the small fork in the stream and to wait there. It would be a hard days ride and I would get there about noon on the next day. I left leading two pack horses that had most of the gear on them. As I rode I couldn’t help but think about what had happened that would cause such concern on Cly’s face as he bid me farewell. There were many deer and a few elk around and I decided to take a break from riding about sun-up when I saw a small elk knee-deep in the creek. I slipped my bow off my shoulder and nocked an arrow. I pulled back and aimed slowly as Uncle Spar had taught me. A deep breath and release caused the arrow to fly true. Hitting the young elk high on the shoulder. It jumped up and down, thrashed around a bit before finally limping to dry land. It wasn’t dead so I readied another arrow and shot again, this time from a closer range. The elk took two steps and fell dead. I wanted to whoop it up a bit but remembered the look on Cly’s face. I approached the elk after tying up the horses and looked about for a strong tree. I found one close to the trail but hidden enough for me to take enough time to clean my kill. It wasn’t a big elk but I still had trouble hoisting it up high enough to make cleaning it easier. When I was almost done, I heard a twig snap. I jerked my head up and saw the source of the sound. Another chapter I looked around at the way the patrons had speedily cleared the floor optomistic of things to come. The heavily planked tables upended, legs against the walls. Makeshift barriers for them to hide behind. I knew it wasn't the first time they had watched a fight from behind those stout ramparts. The one called Brute already had his sword out. No longer than an average blade but much wider. Heavy and well notched. A blade made for hard hacking swings, not defense or parrying. A weapon suited to his large build, and a name to fit. Brute. Kreiger grabbed my arm and placed the hilt of his longsword into my hand. Smaller than the one Brute had but still too heavy for me. "Kreiger! I can't fight with this! It's too heavy! I can't swing it!" From the sound behind me, I knew I had no real choice. Defend or die. The deep grunt had given away Brute's surprse attack. I spun and lunged to the side as the fat sword sliced the air where my head was a moment ago. The heft of the sword would have carried a normal man across the room but the scarred Brute was no nrmal man. He recovered quite easily in the manner that marks a fighter as untrained but experienced. I raised Kreiger's heavy longsword above my head and swung down and to the right to intercept Brute's forceful thrust. Myglancing blow barely caused a shift of momentum in the arc of the offending blade. A few more attacks like this would make short work of the feeble defenses I put up. Trying to attack was nearly impossible. I couldn't regain my balance and composure quick enough to properly defend much less launch an attack. "I can't fight with this!" I pleaded. 'it's too big!" "Then don't. Use what you feel you can use best." An idea formed in my head. I jumped across the floor, spun and threw Kreiger's sword at Brute causing him to duck down to one knee as he knocked the spinning blade easily aside. He watched the blade bounce to the far side of the room as I pulled out my shortsword and dagger. I breathed deeply knowing the bet was to the death. A young boy greatly outmatched in size and strength by the hulking Brute. Kreiger set me up to die? No he always had a reason for the things he did. He always talked of unforeseen advantages.what were they in this circumstance? I avoided a crushing sideswipe by catching his sword in my crossed weapons allowing the force of the blow to push me backwards. The lack of resistance to the monstrous blow caused Brute to over extend. I quickly spun with a raking motion low to his leg and a hard stabbing poke to the shoulder. An audible grunt of surprise and pain allowed a slight victory to the damage done. Not much mind you but enough to bolster the hope that my unseen advantages, speed and agility, could overcome the strenth and experience possessed by my unspeaking opponent. He stood up, backing away ,listening to the cheers and taunts of the crowdas the bet-masters quickly recalculated the odds. Reformulating his attck plans took Brute only a second or two as he ressessed me. Gripping the long handle of his sword tightly with both hands signaled a hard fast rush was coming. He raised the massive sword and charged. Expecting me to block and twist the way I had been doing was his undoing. He never realized what was happening until it was too late. Anticipating his attack and judging his speed allowed me to jump inside his attack. I hook his arm with mine andand spun up on his back causing him to become top heavy and tumble face first into the floor. As we landed, I stabbed at his elbow pinning it to the floor with my dagger. Defending himself by clutching his sword in his off-hand, he rolled on to his side as he swung only to aknowledge the seriousness of the predicament he was in.
  16. If you need to convert: AnyVideoConvert. Figure out what format you need for the Transformer (avi, Mpeg4, whatever). Take the original movie a nd drag it to the left hand window, choose your settings on the right (default is AVI I think), press Convert button and 15 minutes later your done. I've been using it for a couple years now. The updates allow you to plug in your tablet and it will auto-choose the output settings for your device. Very simple interface. Updated regularly. Hope this is what you needed.
