Port forwarding won't help with the ping issues, but there are some things that you can try. First, if other people in your home are using the network for surfing, downloading etc, ask them to stop while you're playing to see if that helps. Even idle systems can affect it. My pings were high a couple of nights ago, and once I shut off my Ubuntu Linux laptop, my ping settled. You should also stop as many running applications and processes as you can on your system as many applications update themselves and "call home" frequently or they just take up CPU cycles. One thing that you can try is check to see if your router has QOS (Quality of Service) settings. You can use them to give priority to gaming data packets which will improve things. What model router do you have? I have a D-Link as well, a DGL-4500. It's simplified things by adding gaming options under the advanced tab. I know enough about routers to be dangerous, so any information that you can provide will help in assisting you. Cheers, - Astronomer Awards
