Hey everyone, I have been getting more and more in to the Freetag server. I played quite a bit yesterday and went to play this morning and am getting an error, I start the game, load my profile and click Join game to bring up the server list and my game just crashes and gives me an iw3mp.exe error.

This happens EVERY time I try to login now and I have changed NOTHING since I was playing yesterday.

I have tried the steroe mix fix, that is useless as mine is already enabled.

I have tried renaming mssmp3.api to mssmp3.bak which has no effect.

Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how to fix it?

Check your Audio drivers and make sure there is no conflicts. if your using external audio like  soundblaster, make sure your on board audio is disabled, you can do that threw your bios or disable it in device manager.

See if that helps

+1 of that one.

He might have a Realtek Onboard sound.

Check in your device manager to see at 'sound' devices if realtek (HD) is there and update it.

yes. it was because I had a audio card that used the PCIE 1x slot and with this older board you cant use it if i want to do crossfire. so i got one that was PCI instead. Never would have guess that in a million years but I decided to go to go online and find the manual for my mother board and there it was  lol.

this error has something to do with audiocard and reinstalling everything doesnt even fix it. the only way i have been able to do get around is this.

1.get a copy of the iwmp3.exe file from someone that doesnt have this problem (over xfire is easiest)

2. save that new file somewhere u can get to it easy (not the cod4 folder)

3.right click that file and copy it and paste it in ur cod4 folder over the old one.

4.repeat everytime u join or at least every other day or so.

this is the easiest way i have found to fix this problem and it does work for me. i have tried everything else and still get it. so good luck hope this works for you
