Ever since I started using Windows7 and sofar it only seems this happens while playing ftag and usually during the map change, I keep getting directx unrecoverable fatal errors, of course the game crashes and I have to reconnect all the time. Sometimes it only happens once or twice, and others as much as 5 or 6 times during the course of my game play day. Oh yeah it happens on Zombies too!

I played the Ace Mod yesterday for hours and it never happened even once. All my drivers and directx are updated, its directx 11 btw...

Any Ideas anyone?

All I can tell you is when I used to have this problem, I would reload my vid drivers (latest version) and it would go away for a while. After a few vid driver revisions, it seemed to stop. That is when I had Nvidia. I have never had that problem on ATI (just saying.. I dig Nvidia).  I have no idea if it was a conflict, or if that was just all coincidence but it worked. You can read all day all over the internet that it's your direct x drivers, or it is vid drivers, or it is xfire interfering with the game... and 10,000 other reasons/fixes.  From the problem that I had, which is exactly like yours, a reload of my vid drivers cleared it up for a bit. It happened enough that for a time I kept a shortcut to my vid driver execute file on my desktop.

Good Luck!

I agree I had that for a bit, updated to new drivers and selected remove custom configs or whatever it was to clean everything and have not had it since.

Windows 7 supports directx 11 but the gts250 only directx 10.If your playing CoD4,your playing in directx 9.0.Make sure directx 9.0c is up to date.

ain't that some shit! this time when I went to update my drivers, I found out that the my videocard doesn't support directx11, the new updated driver was about 4mb larger than the one i have now so I'm getting it anyway. but I may still have to dump directx11 and go back to 9.0c

thanks guys, I'll try the new drivers first and see what happens before dumping the dx11 and step back to 9, bah horse shit!

GUYZ, THIS DIRECT X ISSUE IS NOT RELATED TO THE DIRECT X UPDATE, WINDOWS UPDATE ETC.. IT IS THE VERY OWN NVIDIA LATEST DRIVER THAT SEEM TO BE CAUSING THIS ISSUE.

HOW TO FIX IT...

UNINSTALL THE LATEST NVIDIA DRIVERS FROM THE ADD / REMOVE (FOR XP) OR PROGRAMS AND FEATURE OPTION FOR VISTA.Once it is done, go to C drive, DELETE any NVIDIA FOLDER containing display drivers.

click start, click RUN or click under start search (if its vista or win 7), type 'temp' (without quote) press ENTER. (Opens a folder, delete all files, leave the rest which windows cant delete or currently in use etc).

close the folder, now click start click RUN or start search, type '%temp%' (opens a folder, delete all files etc)

TURN THE INTERNET CONNECTION OFF SO THAT THE WINDOWS DOES NOT FIND AND DETECT THE LATEST NVIDIA DRIVERS.

RESTART THE COMPUTER..

GO TO THE NVIDIA WEBSITE BUT DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE LATEST NVIDIA DRIVERS, USE SOME OLD DRIVER WHICH IIS 18.00 WHQL VERSION ETC.......

restart system again..

ISSUE FIXED.. WORKS LIKE A CHARM... believe me, anyone can get it fixed now.. incase there are problems, please contact me..

Or use this (its easier) DH Driver Cleaner Professional Edition

http://www.drivercleaner.net

Then install this Driver http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us i use the 260.89 found it to be the most stable...i always use beta drivers  mine is the 260 gtx

There is no such thing as "dumping" directx 11.You will "never" play any game in directx 11 with a gts250 as it supports up to directx 10 only.Even if you had a directx 11 card,CoD 4 and CoDWaW are directx 9.0 games.Update your driver and directx 9.0c.

Just because a driver works good for someone else, doesn't mean it will work good with "your" particular hardware.

The installer is just telling you that you already have the latest version of 9.0c.
