Hi all,

Somehow I pooched my mobo when I installed a 2nd video card in SLI. ASUS will cross-ship me a new one when they have stock, but that does me no good now as I'll be off work until January 3 and I'll have time to really play. My wife is very understanding and told me to go ahead and get the parts to build a new PC.

So... I went from a Core 2 Duo 3Ghz, 4Gb RAM to an i5 2500k 3.3Ghz unlocked Quad with 16Gb RAM and 2x GTX 550-Ti's. So far so good. My operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.  I've re-installed CODWAW and downloaded the patches. When I try to run the v1.2 to v. 1.4 patch, I get an error that says "Error reading setup initialization file". I've downloaded from >XI< and two other sources with the same result. As this is a new install, software is minimal, just MS Office 2010, MalwareBytes and AVG Antivirus and firewall so far

CODWAW is my main game, so this is killing me! Any thoughts, suggestions or advice is more than welcome.

Thanks,

Thanks for the suggestion Paperman. I'm re-installing the game and then I'll run the patches with the DVD still in the tray. <fingers crossed>

Astronomer - CODWAW Patch Install Failure

I Googled it for ya. Other than that i don't know. Did ya try the all in one patch on the downloader?  1.7 Ultimate

Problem
When running the FileUp installation package, you may receive the following error:
Error reading setup initialization file
ErrorReadingSetUpIniFile.jpg
Solution

This error is usually the result of an unsuccessful download. Sometimes an installer package will have appeared to have downloaded successfully, because no error message was given about the download; however, you will not always receive an error message when the entire file was not downloaded successfully. When you run the exe file, it has enough information available to start running, but it will only get far enough to provide the error message shown above. Since it does not have the complete file content, it will not be able to read the setup inititializaton file.

If you receive this error message, you will need to try downloading the file again.

May need  the latest version of InstallShield from theirwebsite.

Hope this helps

Hi Beers,

I tried that download, and there were errors with it. However...Paperman's suggestion of keeping the install DVD in the drive worked!!! Thanks to both of you for the suggestions. This is why >XI< rocks. I sincerely appreciate all of the help here. Now I can get my ass fragged secure in the knowledge that it's really my (lack of) skill and not my PC that's the problem!  :-)

Labob

Are your patches in a zip file ?

Some were some weren't. I extracted the installers from the zipped files and they executed but the last one crapped out with the error.

OK! The 1.5-1.6 Patch downloaded from >XI< worked!  I'll run the last one after work today.  Thanks all!
