Some further observations about the constant "connection interrupted" problem in-game on the COD5 DM server.

Ping and connection speeds are normal (good).

BF3 (Hardcore 32) server is similarly affected (but not as forgiving - it throws the player off).

Non-XI servers are not affected (both COD5 and BF3) and one can play normally (those I played were in Europe).

Aggravating factors:

1) There are sharks in the Atlantic;

2) It is raining here;

3) I get my Internet service from a British Telecoms subsidiary.

If you don't see much of me in-game in the coming days, or I "quit" abruptly, you'll know why... :crybaby:

It would seem that the servers are taking there turns screwing up.

I tried playing Vietnam Freezetag, this evening - same symptoms.

So, I returned to BF3 and European servers...where I was kicked by a picky admin!

(So pleased we don't have them on the clan servers! LOL!)

UPDATE: Earlier play was, once again, plagued by the "Connection Interrupted" symptoms at random times and for random lengths of time (up to two deaths in the game).

This evening, I have played on the COD5 DM server without a single CI! I mentioned how good it was to not be experiencing this and a fellow Brit regular - "RS4-V8" - said he had also been through two days of this when trying to play on American servers! His ISP is...British Telecom (he is on the Infinity high-speed fibre service whereas I am on their copper wire <20Mbps " 21CN product, optimised for gaming).

So, I am now confident that the problem was caused by the service provider's equipment and not my own.

I am looking forward, nevertheless, to installing a brand new router here, on Wednesday, that should upgrade my facilities. I should, at last, be able to give gaming highest priority at the router via QoS. :thumbsup:
