Just thought I would chip a little in here, Stock market is not the root of all evil, greed is.

Greed is not good, greed is a method of upsetting the cart for others.

You guys say you are quite happy to sponge off companies and feel you have done them over such as BP, but you do realise on average that £1 in every £5 of everyones pension in the UK is linked to them?

So by getting one over on a company like BP, you are quite happy with hurting UK citizens and their futures right? Or perhaps those who invest in it say, Kraft for example, use borrowed money to buy Cadbury's, and thousands lose their jobs all for market share and share value. The price paid for dividend and share vlaue is a very high one indeed.

Hence, greed is pure evil, nothing truly good comes of it, perhaps only for those who profit from it. Although I will say, the stock market seems a mechanism of the greedy, rich get richer, poor get poorer by in large. Oh, if only the world were a little simpler!

i will correct you on one point.. hope you dont mind.

Man is the root of all evil.

Every single problem problem on Earth is man made. If man was not here.. there would be zero problems... zero greed.

But it is in our DNA. We really need to evolve fast before our (humans) greed completely kills us.

Greed is Good!

Just don't be too greedy. There are only Bears and Bulls in the stock market, no place for Pigs.

Lets not forget, and I am not sure if I have the chicken before the egg but when the market crashes everyone suffers.

1929, 1987 and 2008 are prime examples. When the market crashes companies close, savings are lost, pensions are lost, jobs are lost. When jobs and savings are lost the economy suffers.

It does not bode well to wish ill on the market.

Was BP greedy on my part? I don't think so, just wise investing. Same as with Exxon. For what it's worth I will not buy gas from either of them. In both cases my form of protest is solely for the damage they did to the ecosystem.

Today I am having some regrets in not buying into FB when under $18.00, it's up to $19.43, almost time for HXTR to buy in. :no

facebook is going down down down......its run is over. it started to die the day grandma's started sending friend requests. the same as myspace it had its run but now is considered lame. it was our new toy for a couple of years so we played with it everyday. but now the toy is old and boring. we pick it up every now and then and quickly put it back down. it will never go back up just level off at around $1.13 a share lol. as far as were this topic went on capitalism.....capitalism is this, profits before anything, period. it doesn't matter who lives who dies, who gets fired or hired. nothing matters except the bottom line. this is capitalism.... fuck your family, fuck your children, fuck your dog, fuck you, fuck that lake over there, fuck those fish, fuck there drinking water, fuck the "air", HOW MUCH MONEY DID WE/ i MAKE? its a very inhumane thing. it goes against everything religion has taught us. love your fellow man, help your fellow man, take care of the sick and dying, feed the hungry. capitalism will do all of this IF there is money to be made. if their is no money...fuck them. AND IN THE END capitalism dictates that one person/company will own it all. one person/company will make houses, bread, cars, sofas, medical, water, airplanes, bullets, computers, gas....on and on. it starts out free trade, it ends up being a dictatorship of inc. :)

If only religion were so simple. Unfortunately there has been more wars and persecution in the name of religion than any other single cause in the history of man.

But I tread on dangerous ground with religion, back to FB, never let a personal bias for a company interfere with a business decision. Just keep watching FB, as disliked as it is I think it will recover a bit. Had I bought at under 18 I would have also placed a sell order at 20. If it gets to 20 I will have made a very big mistake. If it tanks, nothing lost but but my foot in my mouth.

Let's understand, I am not saying it will fail or not, just that I thought under 18.00 was a buying opportunity. My sell point would have been 20.00, just thinking there was an opportunity for some profit. I was prepared to buy 3,000 shares but wussed out. I looked as FB as a "Play" not an "Investment".

IMHO, FB had bottomed for awhile and was holding in that area for a bit. That indicates some stabilization and perhaps the bottom was holding. If so that is often a buying opportunity. It may turn out that I suffer from a lack of balls because in the last few days it appears my thoughts were correct.

Stocks and the market itself often hit "correction" levels, both high and low. I simply thought at below 18 was time for a "correction" and some upward movement. That is not to say it won't tank again which is what worries me.

Buy low, sell high is the rule of thumb. When and if the market tanks it's the smart investor who knows when to buy back in. For what it's worth I am a little worried in general about the market and have moved much into safer investments not as directly hurt but a correction or crash.

Oh well, it's all BS anyway since I did nothing.

Woulda, shoulda, coulda, but didn't.

FB at $20.48, I would have made over $6,000.00 in my pocket in less less that 10 days or so.

As stated before m sell order would have been at 20.

:realmad: :realmad: :realmad: :realmad: :realmad:

I still think money to be made but am scairt. Maybe up to $25.00. There also my soon be a dip for profit taking or cutting losses.

All of you FB haters have you looked recently? $21.80

Had we bought when under 18 we would have all made a very healthy profit to this point.

My ass is black and blue from kicking myself, I was so close, even was on the phone to my broker (Vanguard) but chickened out. I do wish I was smarter about investing.

I have been expecting some profit taking but it keeps going up.

Well..............not to say I told you so but................

Had you bought FB when it went below $18.00 you would have a had about a 22% profit at the moment.

Oh, did I forget to mention that I did not listen to myself and also did not buy? :no:realmad:

I am admittedly a capitalist, don't matter much whose shares I buy..........BP, Exxon or even FB as long as I can make a buck or two.

Whether I hate them or not is not a investment issue for me. As I said before I made money from BP and Exxon's problems but I still will not buy their products.

Just remember Hxtr, it's business, you are not sleeping with them.

However Hxtr, just for your moral integrity there are mutual funds that are socially conscious.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socially_responsible_investing

I have no money in socially responsible investments.

As I said, I am a capitalist. :smoke:

BTW, what is your FB name? :welcome:

If you want a penny stock I would try ACPW.

I don't own any but have considered it and am still considering a buy along with SD which is not a penny stock but is below $10.00.

Pennies are a play where you can make a few or lose a few real quick.

FB in the tank today over $2.00 at the moment.

A negative article in Barron's, a respected financial publication, in bold headlines set FB's value at $15.00. This may have impacted the market.

Short sellers would have made a few bucks if in at market open or market close Friday.

I am sure some at Barron's made money knowing what the headline article was going to be in Saturdays paper. Fools if they didn't. Short selling would have been perfect.

Ugh! Not a good day in the market. Took a bit of a hit today.

It is beginning to worry me enough that I already had already bailed on a few stocks (ALU, NOK, CSCO and a couple others ) and moved into bonds.

I guess I could take the approach that I made money by not losing it.:no:ouch:

Okay Hxtr, be happy, at market open I will be getting out of any stock type holdings (ETF's) and moving all money in safer type bond investments.

Just a gut feeling but I have decided for the moment to leave the casino while I still have their money in my pocket.

I took a few hits like ALU and NOK but overall the market has been very good to me. I am just getting nervous and do not want to give any back.

However, in due time I will visit again. For now it's just Mutuals and ETF holding bonds, a safer investment.
