And, it hit everyone. Not just certain banks. No bank can fully protect your account from scammers. Debit cards do not offer quite the same protection as credit cards, even when they are backed by VISA or Mastercard. When shopping online especially, use a credit card. If you're traveling and using a debit card, alert your bank before you go. Quite often, Transaction Review Departments will block a debit card when it's being used out of town because they think it's fraud. P.S. Then, your on your own the fight off the charge by using your time and effort. This is a very unlikely scenario because you are paying upfront, same as cash, when you are checking in. I use my debit card in the US all the time and I have never had a problem. We see MORE fraud from debit cards used in Wal-Mart stores than anywhere else!!! actually chase protects my account just like credit card.....i never have an issue tho anyways...im always careful about when and where i use my cards....just like my pc i careful about what sites i go to...so i get no virus' but that just me i guess lol
