ok i have 4 kids and there is so much filth on the internet I usualy filter most of it thru open dns which i could do with my older wrt router. But i wanna make this sbg6580 work.Anyone have this model???There is a spot  to change to static ip yet any config I use wont work to direct to open dns servers....any clue?

btw its the new arris model and the menu is different then previous 6580 that clearly had parental controls in the main menu bar.this was removed  when arris took ownership ive read?

wtf cant his popular feature be on every router.push one button and done already.

open DNS... or Dynamic DNS? DNS is a naming server... like xi.com to 24.23.22.21 kind of thing.

How does that help filter crap from you kids?

I am so glad my kids are grown as I would not like to explain today's world to them.

open dns is a great way to filter the internet for kids.

It is possible your provider has secured everything on there router and you have to call them to get them to open it up. Or use there router as a modem and use another router to route your traffic.
