Lots of Connection Interruptions

I get a CI almost every minute sometimes on COD4. I always get lag spikes when playing, which is annoying but not unusual, but the massive CIs I keep getting are making it unplayable.

Any suggestions for how to combat this.

I close all unnecessary apps before playing, I use Ethernet cable on 100mbs fibre optic. Router is rebooted regularly.

Have you done a traceroute?

Not sure if this is relevant, but sometimes the redirect is stuck at 12/13 kb/s and the only way I can fix it is to disconnect, exit and then reload game and it downloads at normal speed.
