If some of you are freaked out by what's in your tap water there is a simple solution. Buy a reverse osmosis filtration system from around $100 (US). It's a filtration system that can quite literally turns sea water into drinking water. You can also buy de-chlorinator drops at your local pet store. One drop per gallon and "poof" the chlorine is instantly gone and it's safe for humans. We buy bottled water for the convenience, not the taste. My kids take a bottle in their lunches and we'll grab a few bottles if we're taking a long drive. Other than that, it's tap water and ours tastes great. I have several thousand dollars of salt water fish, corals and other ocean critters that are swimming in straight tap water right now in my aquarium that has been de-chlorinated and salt added. If they can handle it so can my family.

Great song, thanks for the link.

Words usually can't express what someone is feeling at a time like this, but you've written a fitting tribute to your best friend Bushape. Live the best life you can until the day comes when you can see her again.

I had trouble deciding this year. So many great costumes, so little time.

Sometimes crap happens even when you try to avoid it!

Life has a way of being really fucked sometimes Dean. It sounds like you've had your fair share of the short end of the stick. Things have a way of turning around when you least expect it to happen. Just live your life the best you can with the hand you've been dealt, and always fight to make whatever situation you're in better. -
Bama, a lot of people in just about all areas have been having major ping issues over the last few months. If you do a tracert test to the IP address of the server you play on, it will show you exactly where the signal is getting hung up, and I'll bet it's not just on your end. Our main DM and TDM servers on COD2 are near Chicago, and most of the latency I was (and still am) experiencing was in the Chicago area. Window and Bullet who live not far from Chicago have had ping issues as well, and they usually have the fastest speeds of anybody playing on those servers. Conspiracy theorists think it's the NSA bugging the lines, and a year ago I would have said that was nuts. Now, nothing would surprise me. Rugger just set up a new server for our upcoming TDM tournament and it's in LA (SoCal). My ping is finally down in the 20's since it's closer to me, and everybody else in other areas have 50 to 90 ping, but it doesn't seem to effect their game much or improve my play at all.

I feel for you BB. I fought AT&T for several years over our DSL speed and it was never fixed, regardless of who it was "escalated" to. We paid for up to 6 mbps service and rarely got more than 3, and even then there were constant spikes and outages. I grew very tired of talking to some service rep in India that barely spoke Engish and told me to reset my modem. They finally installed lines for their fiber optics in our area last month, so I'll wait and see how things shake out over the next year or so then maybe change back. We finally changed to cable, and while the speed is much faster (22 mbps) it had little or no effect on my ping playing COD. But the outages are much better although we still get spikes frequently. Good luck, I hope it works out for you and Bama.

Years ago I bought a brand new 1987 Chevy K5 Blazer. I was single, it was a chick magnet of the day and I loved that damn thing. I had a cat that I decided to get spayed, and for the trip home from the vet I let him stretch out in the back seat of my truck. Little did I know that he hadn't pissed in the 24 hours he was with the vet, and he pissed all over my back seat. It didn't smell too much at the time, but after the first rain the humidity in the air somehow activated the now dry piss in the foam of my back seat, and the entire truck smelled like cat piss. To make a long story short, if I ever wanted to have another person in that truck with me I had to spend a couple thousand to replace the back seat and the carpeting. Several weeks later the cat was hit by a car and killed, so basically it was all for nothing. The only thing that smells worse than cat piss is cat shit, especially after you step in it in a flower bed in your yard.

That is my favorite scene from any of the Pink Panther movies. It's a classic line that I use whenever the opportunity presents itself.

They can have their cute little inventions. We tend to invent things that have a slightly larger impact on life than a piece of plastic to hold down book pages. -
When you buy computers assembled in certain countries, and they spill their lunch in their work area, these things happen.

I guess that's where I'm confused Logan. I can't find any mention anywhere on the web where Target did not allow the "poppy boxes" at registers in their stores. The entire controversy surrounded the vets selling poppy pins to the public outside the main entrance of Target stores, and they later changed to allow vets to sell inside. I've been in a lot of Target stores and I've never seen a charity box at the register. It's just something they don't allow, and from what I "haven't" been able to find on the web it doesn't appear it was a problem between Target and the vets. I did see where Dollar Tree (a US based company I could care less about) and Dollarama (a Canadian based company I could care less about) both would not allow the poppy boxes, and both have changed their rules after a public outcry. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/poppies-welcome-kamloops-b-c-dollarama-store-clarifies-1.2252964 -
does anyone know the value of this brandy???
little_old_man replied to billyblade's topic in General Discussion
It was made in Spain and from what little I can find (on Spanish web sites) there are still quite a few bottles of it on the market at any given time, mostly in Europe and South America. I wouldn't worry about it. Prices are all over the place from $100 per bottle to well over $1,000. Even eBay has some and lots of the empty wooden cases for sale. Just enjoy the brandy. You won't be able to retire on it. -
Only 50? Shit I always thought you looked great for a man of 75.

Ok Canadians, before you continue your bash-fest of America there are some inacurracies in Logan's original post. Target never refused to allow Canadian vets to sell the poppy pins. They only asked that they sell them outside the front doors of the store, and when there was bad weather they were welcome to come inside. Of course since the outrage of Canadians has created bad press for them, they have since changed their ruling and will now allow the pins to be entirely sold inside. Target doesn't allow sales by charitable organizations "inside" their stores in the US either. There are no stories or records of other American based big box stores refusing to allow the poppy pins to be sold "this year". There is some kind of dust-up regarding these pins every single year in Canada. A few years ago McDonalds wouldn't allow their employees to wear the pins, and just last year Quebec Premier Pauline Marois pissed off vets by decorating her poppy with a fleur-de-lis, which vets took as a slap to the face. By the way, Target is based out of Minnesota and most Americans consider them to be more Canadian than American.
