I would imagine the psychological effect on a potential target of having lasers trained on him etc would lessen the risk of actually having to pull the trigger. I am not a fan of firearms but recognise the deterrent effect that could be achieved without using deadly force on an intruder. Our police "illuminate" violent suspects with a taser laser prior to discharge and that can be enough to get them to comply.

Very sad to read this - the man was my childhood hero and I shall never forget being roused from my slumbers early in the morning to watch him step onto the Moon live via TV. The prince appears to have done what hot-blooded young princes have done for centuries. If there's anything scandalous, it is the intrusion into his privacy.
