Pharticus reacted to JohnnyDos in A British Housewife's Letter to the Editor
Thought you might like to read this letter to the editor of a British
national newspaper. Ever notice how some people  just seem to know how to
write a letter? Here is a woman who should run for Prime Minister!
Written by a British housewife to her daily newspaper:

'Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started
by Islamic people who brought it to our shores in July 2002, and in New York
Sept 11, 2001 and have continually threatened to do so since?

Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or
crushing death that day, or didn't they?

And I'm supposed to care that a few Taliban were claiming to be tortured by
a justice system of the nation they come from and are fighting against in a
    brutal insurgency.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring
about the Holy Bible, the mere belief of which is a crime punishable by
    beheading in Afghanistan.

I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off
Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called 'insurgents' in Afghanistan come out
and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in
mosques and behind women and children.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of
Nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide
    bombs.

I'll care when the British media stops pretending that their freedom of
speech on stories is more important than the lives of the soldiers on the
ground or their families waiting at home to hear about them when something
    happens.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a British soldier roughing up an
Insurgent terrorist to obtain information, know this:

    I don't care..

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to
move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take this to the bank:

    I don't care.

When I hear that a prisoner - who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and
'fed special food' that is paid for by my taxes - is complaining that his
holy book is being 'mishandled,' you can absolutely believe in your heart of
    hearts:

    I don't care.

And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's

spelled 'Koran' and other times 'Quran..' Well, believe me!! you guessed it
    .............

    I don't care!!

If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your E-mail friends.
Sooner or later, it'll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous
    behaviour!

If you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should you
choose the latter, then please don't complain when more atrocities committed
by radical Muslims happen here in our great country! And may I add:

'Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in
the world. Our soldiers don't have that problem.'

I have another quote that I would like to add, AND......... I hope you
    forward all this..

Only six defining forces have ever offered to die for you:

    1. Jesus Christ
    2. The British Soldier.
    3. The Canadian Soldier.
    4. The US Soldier
    5. The New Zealand Soldier, and
    6. The Australian Soldier

One died for your soul, the other 5 for your freedom.

YOU MIGHT WANT TO PASS THIS ON, AS MANY SEEM TO FORGET ABOUT ALL OF THEM
    AMEN!’

THIS LADY DESERVES A STANDING OVATION SHE HAS INDEED TICKED ALL THE BOXES

Isn't it interesting that so many people in the Western World feel this way,
but not one of our politicians, who are supposed  to represent us, ever have
the guts to state the situation like it is?

Pharticus reacted to DramaLlama in Alerts to terror threats in Europe

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent events in Syria and have therefore raised their security level from “Miffed” to “Peeved.” Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to “Irritated” or even “A Bit Cross.” The English have not been “A Bit Cross” since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from “Tiresome” to “A Bloody Nuisance.” The last time the British issued a “Bloody Nuisance” warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada.

The Scots have raised their threat level from “Pissed Off” to “Let’s get the Bastards.” They don’t have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from “Run” to “Hide.” The only two higher levels in France are “Collaborate” and “Surrender.” The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France ‘s white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country’s military capability.

Italy has increased the alert level from “Shout Loudly and Excitedly” to “Elaborate Military Posturing.” Two more levels remain: “Ineffective Combat Operations” and “Change Sides.”

The Germans have increased their alert state from “Disdainful Arrogance” to “Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs.” They also have two higher levels: “Invade a Neighbour” and “Lose.”

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual; the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels.

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

Australia, meanwhile, has raised its security level from “No worries” to “She’ll be right, Mate.” Two more escalation levels remain: “Crikey! I think we’ll need to cancel the barbie this weekend!” and “The barbie is cancelled.” So far no situation has ever warranted use of the last final escalation level.

To add to his post, accusing us of not doing our job is offensive. Catching hackers isn't always black and white as people seem to think. Admins dont always communicate, but we do the best we can do. We cwnt watch everyone all the time which is why ask players to watch people too. While I can't speak to your video since I haven't seen it, xfire videos tend to be of poor quality so a cheat may not always be obvious. Just because people are accused of hacking doesn't always mean they cheat. Some are just better players. I've had plenty of players ask me to watch videos and I don't see anything. Doesnt mean you should stop watching for hackers . If an admin doesnt agree with your accusation, don't get your panties in a wad. There are plenty of players the admins think are cheating, but we need definitive proof. If you don'agree with an admin's opinion, try another admin. Dont come on here and accuse us of incompetence.

There are other videos of cops being ultra careful with people high on drugs for example that are not threatening anybody. So it is not fair to label all cops the same. Like every other profession there are good ones and bad ones. Knowing all the details is important before rendering a judgement but something would have to be pretty bad to justify beating a woman on the side of the highway.

Dean, I apologize for being insensitive in my response.  Will you forgive me?  The cry of my heart is to see you healed.  To answer some of your questions directed to me, even the rhetorical ones: no, I do not have a degree in clinical depression.  Yes, I do lack empathy.  I made no assumptions about your prayer life.  We are all spiritually sick in some sense for the simply fact that we are human.  Your problem may be spiritual, physical, emotional, mental or any combination of these.

I was merely commenting on the paragraph that primarily dealt with your triggers.  That I do have experience in, although it's not a degree.  My wife was abused as a child and is easily triggered by me.  I mean well, but none the less I am her trigger for many things.  We have struggled in our marriage for 17 years and only recently did I discover what was the root of our marital issues.  Thus, I want to encourage you to look into the possibility that there may have been a very traumatic moment(s) in your childhood that is manifesting itself in your life as an adult.  When traumatic events happen to children at a young enough age they do not have healthy coping skills to deal with it.  It's just a possibility.  Maybe that didn't happen to you.  Maybe it did.  I am sincerely and consistently praying that you would be healed from this.

A friend recommended I read the book When the Woman You Love Was Abused: A Husband's Guide to Help Him Overcome Childhood Sexual Molestation by Dawn Scott Jones.  It described my wife perfectly and helped me to understand why she reacts the way she does.

There is also When a Man You Love Was Abused: A Woman's Guide to Help Him Overcome Childhood Sexual Molestation by Cecil Murphey.

Maybe these books can help someone understand their spouse.

My initial reaction to what you have said:
    1)  You are ALWAYS responsible for your actions.  You can't control your feelings, but you can choose how to respond to them.
    2)  The triggers are your issue, not the rest of the world's.  As your friends, we will try to be sensitive about what we say, but ultimately you need to identify and deal with these issues.  I suggest counseling or a program like Celebrate Recovery (available in many churches for free).  We all have hurts from our past, but sometimes they continue to manifest themselves in the present.  I'm praying for you.  Gal. 5:1

I think it all boils down to what interests you. Growing up in Florida, I wanted to enter the Bermuda Triangle and see it for myself. Crossing the Gulf Stream was rough but the rest of the trip was uneventful. Today, the area still remains a curiosity to those of us who like a good mystery. I say let people be curious if they wish to be.

As far as the spiritual world goes, I just remember this verse:

Philippians 4:8 - Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.

Not only can those things be distracting, but they can become consuming.  There is so much deception that the truth becomes hard to find.
