Ever wonder how it's possible for someone to strap a bomb to themselves, walk into a crowd and detonate it? This video shows how what once were likely rational people are driven to the edge of sanity and beyond by extremism. The ghost of Jacob Marley said to Scrooge: "This boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want. Beware them both but most of all beware this boy, for on his brow I see that written which is Doom, unless the writing be erased." Ignorance is easily turned to fanaticism and at that point, you cannot rationalize with people. Extremists of all stripes be it politics, religion - whatever - are to be most feared! Run from them. But also be vigilent that you are not persuaded to extremist causes. http://chicksontheright.com/posts/item/26546-her-name-is-snow-i-m-going-to-remember-that-when-i-eat-my-next-steak

Ladies and Gentlemen, the Canadian National Anthem
HarryWeezer replied to little_old_man's topic in Jokes and Misc stuff
Back in the day the drinking age in Ontario was 21 but in New York, 18. So hundreds of Canadians would take the ferry across the St. Lawrence River to my home town of Ogdensburg, NY on Friday and Saturday nights and many would get too drunk, and miss the last ferry back. The guys would pass out anywhere but the girls needed a proper place to spend the night and we horny Americans were delighted to oblige. I can't count the number of Canadian girls that were handed to me on a silver platter so to speak, but I can say that many were beautiful and thoroughly enjoyable, as it were... There were some 100 bars in that small town and about a third of them were considered Canadian despite being on American soil. You didn't go in them unless you were looking for a fight. At various times, we were. Good days!!! -
Forbes' medical writer: "Could Ebola adapt in a way that makes it airborne? It’s highly unlikely. It would be unusual for a virus to transform in a way that changes its mode of infection. Of the 23 known viruses that cause serious disease in man, none are known to have mutated in ways that changed how they infect humans."

I have a nephew who is caught up in conspiracy theories of all sorts and I find there's no reasoning with people who buy the bullshit spewed on the various conspiracy web sites. But then too, we have TV (Nat. Geo channel and others) airing nonsense on Susqautch, space aliens, ghosts, etc., and the gullible ignorant buy this crap. If I were Bill Gates I would have a commercial-free, "real" reality channel that did nothing but debunk the bullshit - everything from the above to lying commercials. The dumbing down of America is in full force. -
In game names question to ponder

I may be wrong, but I believe members are required to use their clan name on an XI server - admins excepted. -
some crazy shit we will see happen /cyborgs
HarryWeezer replied to Damage_inc-'s topic in General Discussion
Few Idiots know that we have a cyborg right here amongst us and he is none other than clan leader Rugger. About 10 years ago, when he lost his dick in an unfortunate accident involving a sheep and a haying machine, Rugger had an artificial member implanted that goes erect on voice command and which adjusts from one inch for your occasional chicken to two feet for your more frequent bovine. It also has wi-fi built in along with LED lighting and he can not only take very deep pictures and video with it, but project Netflix movies on a wall - discreetly, of course. -

Sometimes it seems that the Almighty has abandoned us, or is out to get us, that there's some target pinned to your back. Out of our founders, Thomas Paine, said, "These are the times that try men's souls" in encouraging Americans to rally against Great Britain. They did, and despite all odds, they were victorious. And you will be too. Think this to yourself: "Fuck you all. You can throw all the shit you want at me but I'm here to tell you I will overcome. You WILL NOT defeat me. I WILL defeat YOU. I WILL walk the walk until I can again stand tall. Nothing will stand in my way. I WILL pass this test. I WILL prevail." Stay focused, and as Deerejon said, you will pick up speed and the day will come when this will be just a bad memory. We're ALL with ya!!!!

Thanks for trying Labob. Couple points for whatever they're worth... - Several changes were proposed as a "trial." Don't know any better way to gauge reaction than to try something different and then see what people think. - Players should debate proposed changes in open conversation - which is what this was. Shouldn't be a private admin conservation. Cheers...

I have a stupid question and I need help with it quick
HarryWeezer replied to blackcat's topic in Computer Help
Depending on your mobo and what you're looking at, need to be sure you have correct power supply/connectors. -
If possible, the martyrdom perk should be disabled. It adds nothing to gameplay. I love Betties. Use them to protect access to where I might be sniping from. But some make it a point to place them at the only exit from a spawn area or too close to a spawn area. There are only a few players who abuse this so the problem is easily resolved by sending them packing - immediately. We don't need video; we need to trust admin to do their jobs. And yes, there is a problem finding an admin at times. Identify members who are usually on at those times when admin coverage is weak and promote them. It's not like we're paying them.

Lies, and the truth... - When Columbus set sail most thought the earth was flat and he would sail off the edge of it. In truth, the shape of the planet had been settled since Pythagoras, several thousand years earlier, and Columbus' navigational techniques were based on the planet as a globe. - Einstein flunked math. In truth, he was a math prodigy; by age 12 he knew more math than most professors. - Newton theorized gravity when an apple hit hm in the head. This came along 60 years after his death. - Washington chopped down a cherry tree and refused to lie about it. Invented by a biographer; in truth Washington was a bland, boring and uncharismatic individual. - Franklin, the kite and the thunderstorm. Franklin experimented with electricity but never flew a kite in a thunderstorm. - Blue veins, as in the legs of older people, are because blood isn't getting enough oxygen. Human blood is always red; the blue color of some veins is a trick of the way your eyes see color. - There were 13 original colonies. There were 12; Delaware was never a colony and juggled between being "owned" by Maryland and Pennsylvaina. - Old windows are thicker at the bottom because glass is a slowly moving liquid. Glass does not flow; old glass is thicker at the bottom because it was blown into a large sphere and then flattened into a disk by spinning it, which caused the edges to thicken. - White Americans kidnapped blacks from Africa and began the slave trade. For hundreds of years earlier, blacks in Africa were selling other blacks as slaves, mostly to Europe. - Diamonds come from coal. Diamonds are made from carbon; so is coal, but coal cannot become diamond. - The founders were all Christian. Few were; Jefferson and Franklin were Deists who don't believe in the divinity of Christ, Washington believed nature was god; Adams was a Unitarian who also don't believe Jesus as divine. - An insane Van Gogh cut off his ear. It was sliced off by Gauguin with his sword during an argument. - Humans evolved from apes. Humans and apes evolved from a common ancestor; one did not follow the other. - The Pilgrims were saved by friendly natives who gave them food, taught them how to plant corn, and had their first Thanksgiving with them. In truth, the Pilgrims picked Plymouth because 96 percent of the natives had died in plagues introduced by white settlers several years earlier and the land was unoccupied. What natives were left, the Pilgrims stole food and tools from.

There is a great deal that I wish to say on this subject. So having given it considerable thought, I will condense it all into: Riddick, you cross-eyed son of a Portueguese slut, STFU and get your sorry ass in game! I Keel you!!!

A sweet grandmother Telephoned St. Joseph's Hospital. She timidly asked, "Is it possible to speak to someone who can tell me how a patient is doing?" The operator said, "I'll be glad to help, dear. What's the name and room number of the patient?" The grandmother in her weak, tremulous voice said, Norma Findlay, Room 302." The operator replied, "Let me put you on hold while I check with the nurse's station for that room." After a few minutes, the operator returned to the phone and said, "I have good news. Her nurse just told me that Norma is doing well. Her blood pressure is fine; her blood work just came back normal and her Physician, Dr. Cohen, has scheduled her to be discharged tomorrow." The grandmother said, "Thank you. That's wonderful. I was so worried. God bless you for the good News." The operator replied, "You're more than welcome. Is Norma your daughter?" The grandmother said, "No, I'm Norma Findlay in Room 302. No one tells me shit."

Other than rare CIs, I'm not having a prob. on DM1. One reason, Labob, that the "gang" continues to populate the DM1 server rather than the identical DM2 server is that many of them are not XI, though they have been playing on this server for years. They just don't know the server is there. It might help to run a scroll occasionally on DM1 to give them the IP of an "identical server" so they can try it out.
