PHUCKITMAN
THE UPWARDS STURM ON THE GUITAR BACK IN THE DAY 60'S WAS REFERRED TO AS A "SKANK" OR "SKANKING" AND THIS IS WERE SKA CAME FROM FROM WHAT I REMEMBER. HOWEVER SKA MUSIC IS A BLEND OF SEVERAL STYLES OF MUSIC BUT WITH A UNIQUE BEAT STRUCTURE WITH A BASIC 4 BEAT BUT THE BIG BEAT WAS THE 3rd BEAT EVERYTHING WAS CUED IN TO THIS OFF BEAT MAKING IT THE UPBEAT AS OPPOSED TO STANDARD 2-4 BEAT WHICH HAS MORE TRADITIONAL PUSH ON THE 2 AND 4. THIS WAS SOME OFF THE FIRST NON PUNK MUSIC I LISTENED TO FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS. IN THE LATE 70'S NO ZEPPLIN OR KISS ALBUMS BEING PLAYED ON MY TURNTABLE THEY WERE IN THE BACK OF A GROWING RECORD COLLECTION.. OH THE GOOD OLD DAYS
OK, so if it refers to the upward strum of the guitar, then since Hendrix used to turn his guitar upside down and strum it down, then is that the same is having it right side up and strumming it up ???? Does that make Hendrix a skanker??? lol, never heard of any of this....and beginning to question some of your tastes in music around here. Gimme some good hair band, glam rock anyday!!!
