Some photos I took in Yellowstone National Park and Grand Tetons National Park a couple of weeks ago. The majority were taken with my new Canon EOS R body with Canon RF24-105 f/4L USM IS and Canon EF 500 f/4L USM IS (and 1.4x III teleconverter). I believe the only one that was not taken with the EOS R was the Prong Horn Antelope which was taken with my Canon 5D Mark IV and Canon EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L USM IS. Bison (at about 25 yards) taken near Old Faithful with EOS R and EF 500 f/4L USM IS Chapel Of The Transconfiguration in Grand Teton National Park. Taken with Canon EOS R and Canon RF 24-105 f/4L USM IS Barn on Mormon Lane, Grand Teton National Park. Taken with Canon EOS R and Canon RF 24-105 f/4L USM IS Grand Prismatic Spring overlook. Taken with Canon EOS R and Canon RF 24-105 f/4L USM IS Large Grizzly. Taken in Lamar Valley using Taken with Canon EOS R and Canon EF 500 f/4L USM IS with Canon EF 1.4x III teleconverter.....at about 150 yards. Pronghorn Antelope taken in Lamar Valley. Taken with Canon 5D Mark IV and Canon EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 L USM IS Bull Elk and his harem during the rut. Taken near Fairy Falls trailhead with Canon EOS R and Canon EF 500 f/4L USM IS with Canon EF 1.4x III teleconverter from about 100 yards. Bighorn sheep taken near Tower / Mammoth with Canon EOS R and Canon EF 500 f/4L USM IS with Canon EF 1.4x III teleconverter at about 100 yards. -

Off to Yellowstone National Park and Denver

You're right about that. Dunraven Pass was closed for a good part of the trip, but finally opened so we were able to get to Lamar Valley much easier. Now I understand why they close it....holy cow, don't take your eye off the road! We trekked down to Fishing Bridge and had to cut the day short because of heavy snow...they were going to close the pass and we didn't want to get trapped there. -

Here's a handful of photos I took in Yellowstone National Park / Grand Tetons National Park. I literally have thousands to go through. Perhaps I'll add more later. It was cold and snowy for about half our trip, but we managed to sneak in a few nicer days. Yellowstone National Park was very nice, especially with abundance of wildlife. But we just got bored of the geyser basins honestly....once you see one geyser, they all look and do the same things. :) We managed to see Grizzly Bears, Black Bears (almost hit one), Pack of Wolves, Coyotes, Elk, Bison, Fox, Mule Deer, Pronghorn Antelope, Bighorn Sheep....and many others Anyway we really loved Grand Tetons National Park, it was small but incredibly stunning! Chapel of the Transconfiguration - Grand Tetons National Park . Yellowstone Bison giving me the eye... T.A. Moultan Barn - Grand Tetons National Park Grand Primsatic Spring overlook - Yellowstone National Park Grizzly Bear - Lamar Valley, Yellowstone National Park (about 100 yards away) Pronghorn Antelope - Lamar Valley, Yellowstone National Park Elk bull and his harem, Yellowstone National Park near Fairy Falls trail Bighorn Sheep -Mammoth, Yellowstone National Park. -

Mr.s Smeg and I are headed out at O'dark:30 tomorrow for a week in Yellowstone National Park. Then I'll be home for a couple of days, then I'm back out to Denver for a week. Try to hold back the tears @AyaqGuyaq and @ANGU5

Yosemite National Park "Tunnel View" and a shot of my Canon obsession..... I took the picture of Tunnel View with a Canon 5D Mark IV with Canon EF 16-35 f/2.8L USM III I picked up a new Canon EOS R Mirrorless and RF 24-105 f/4L USM IS kit. It came with the RF to EF lens adapter. Wife and I are headed to Yellowstone National Park next week and I am lugging as much gear with me as I possibly can. -

People down there ride this (and worse) out all the time. Not me! -
Someone setup a video camera to record the incoming tide surge on the Outer Banks of NC a couple of weeks ago during Hurricane Dorian. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEFVbvDls4U&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR3GwBxB3GnEjloIXqEKfDH6ApEonwZkfa70shScjAq7GeHe6vBfB7keAes I have no idea why anyone would want to stay home and ride this out...and it was only a Category 1! I have been there for several Tropical Storms (70mph) and that was no fun at all.....

I actually was totally unprepared for that shot. We were at Potter's Marsh just outside Anchorage. There were your typical waterfowl such as Heron's, gull's and Canadian Geese. I heard this chaotic sound coming through the tree's behind me and I saw this gull dive bombing the eagle. I grabbed my camera and just held the shutter down (I believe that was my 7D Mark II with 100-400 lens). The exposure wasn't really spot on, but I was lucky enough to grab a few in focus shots just at the right time. The Eagle was chasing the Gull's babies. The Gull was not having any of it and chased the Eagle away. It was pretty epic to watch. I also snapped an American Kestral chasing a Bald Eagle there pretty much the same way, although they did not turn out as good. We didn't do a cruise, we flew into Anchorage and planned our two week trip out ourselves. Alaska is an amazing place. Really a trip of a lifetime.

Four years ago today, my bride (of 33 years) and I embarked on an epic journey to Alaska. We have been on many great vacations, yet, they ALL pale in comparison to the magnificent postcard settings of Alaska. We cannot wait to go back and explore more of this beautiful state. And now that @AyaqGuyaq no longer lives there, it's safe to go back! ? Here is a gallery of photos we took on our journey, for those interested in seeing them: https://digitaledgephotography.zenfolio.com/alaska-2015 If you haven't been, GO.....before you cant get out and truly enjoy it.
