  1. Script additions uploaded. Remember that all of your own nades affect you, just as your own flashbangs and frags always have. So your own EMP will prevent you from defrosting. So watch where you throw it.

  4. From provider One of our distribution switches in NYC is not responding, causing downtime for many customers at this location. We are currently investigating this. Update @ 6:58pm EDT: Further investigation determined that the PDU that the switch was plugged into has failed. We have moved the switch to another PDU, which has brought many customers back online, but those hosted on machines that also were on the failed PDU remain down. We are currently asking the facility to replace this PDU with an on-site spare, after which the machines that are down can boot back up.
  5. Yea mechanical keyboards are way pricey. The das keyboard ultimate is supposed to be quite nice. Wish I got my hands on one of those IBM keyboards from back in 1984. They were very nice to use very weighty.
  6. The main reason I got rid of tubes in the AR class was so I could use the assets required by individual weapon+attachment combos for other things. For example the emp nade, smaw and the two crossbows among others. On the other hand the launcher only requires one. Tried to do some kind of extended mags but it required a bunch of scripting hacks that were never reliable. Anyways, IMHO after checking out many maps there arent too many tubes considering its 30 players. I counted. There were more frag kills but nobody complains about grenade spam. (See the F.A.G.S. movement). Also often more car kills. Better thing is to offer good alternatives instead of tubes. Although it takes longer to reload the smaw is the most accurate and fastest projectile in the game. Even at long range. Not as fast as a rifle but close. EMP mines are good to have as protection against cars. When one is coming throw it down at your feet. Most of the time it will kill the car before it can be triggered or explode on its own. Then pick it up again for the next time. But in the end, even with good alternatives, if someone is a slave to tubes there is nothing that can be done about it. Unless their masters give them permission to use something else it will always be so.

  8. When the server is quieted down in the evening when nobody is here going to upload these script additions and check them out: First fixes for jump-streak problem. YES its a problem and nobody was ever meant to do it otherwise there are potential issues that will affect stability. Testing an offensive component to the Freezetag/EMP nade. Think of it as part of the electronics being disabled: If the enemy is hit he cannot remote defrost until it is over. However the proximity defrost will still work normally. The current 300 unit radius might be too much for that part however and overpowered. Will see how it goes with tests. As before, Hardwired protects you just as it does normal EMP effects. Will in the future do the same thing to the mine. An interesting question. Do you save them to help defrost your team? Or do you use them to attack the enemy? Maybe you get the 3X perk, instead of tubes, so you can do both. Yes I have been thinking about small script additions to existing inventory items that would promote their use instead of tubes. But without crippling those that still want to use them. That is not going to happen. But it gives them another choice that is specific to offensive freezetag abilities not just kills. Teamwork vs your own score.
  9. Snipers are supposed to camp for short periods then move to another spot so the enemy doesnt figure out where they are. So long as its not like the douchebags that hide in the corner and wait for people to walk through to door. Now THIS is annoying. Imagine ftag was even worse with zero spawn protection. Especially considering all spawns are forced at start not dispersed. UGH!.

  11. This is the config setting. You could also likely do it in your console. Bump it up to 2 and see what happens. Might help. Might not do anything. seta winvoice_mic_scaler "2"
  12. In your cod4 config look for the setting about mic scalar. Normally it is set at 1. Bump it up to 2, which is the max. and see what happens. I dont know if that took care of my particular problem or if it was something else I screwed around with and it suddenly worked. Some other realtek settings to check out. Mute internal output device when an external headphone is plugged in (on) Make internal and external output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously (off) Tie up same type of input jacks, i e line-in or microphone, as an input device (on) separate all input jacks as independent input devices (off)
  13. Now that's funny. I dont have Ghosts and that's just one more thing to convince me not to buy it even if its cheap.
  14. For the main MW2 server just want to remind everyone that, if you are seriously spawn trapped in a sucky map, the Combat Medic perk (tier 3) will add +%50 to your spawn protection time. Tho you dont get the benefit of things like armor it will help you get away. Wont help as much if everyone else is in your own spawn if you need to stay close to get them. But you might be able to sneak up on the trappers from behind and get a few. Then get a car. Yes I seriously hate being spawn trapped in maps. Not all TDM maps work as well in freezetag. edit: Forgot to add, on that terrible spawn trap map this afternoon CM would have given a few more seconds to get up those ladders and knock off the enemies on top.
  15. Seems in the game its working now. Maybe the config setting did it for cod4 only.
  16. Yup did all that also. All the usual things. However I also suspect its application specific. But I dont know what I did before to get it to work. One of the things, suggested here and there, is to lower the bitrate for the mic but it is greyed out. It is fixed on dvd 2-chan quality and I cant change it. Whatever that is. "shared' audio. Just output. But from what I read these days its not really used much anymore. Last time however, with the card, I did have onboard audio disabled. I also dont know, if that is done, it means the usb audio is disabled as well. Just the regular minijacks.
  17. There is a cod4 config setting about a mic scalar. Will see what that does when I bump it up. I hope that would mean my mic, not everyone elses voices. They are sometimes too loud as it is.
  18. For usb 1-2 there are no mb drivers. Just usb 3. Yea the mic audio level is cranked all the way up to 100. Which in itself is unusual. There is no mic boost in software but the headphones does have a booster setting of its own.
  19. I dont drink the hard stuff and too early for that anyways. But maybe something before dinner. Anyways, am I wrong and would USB audio also be processed through the sound card? The budget Asus model designed more for headphones, which I had before but wasnt pci-e, is currently $25 with rebate so a pretty good deal. So will probably pick it up again anyways since I was happy with it.
  20. Yup that old old problem. Read everything I could. Tried everything I could. I just cant get it to high enough to talk in cod4. Pretty sure it works fine in ts tho. Any ideas?

    No its not random. Its time played. The amount of time you play on the server is written to your player data for the mod. So among non-clan members regulars get priority over newbies. If it was to be totally random among non-clan members it actually would have made my life much easier.

    Just so you know, the choice of who gets redirected... beyond being a clan member... is based on time played on that particular server. Spectating doesnt go towards time played.
  23. What data? If you mean servercache then no that wont do it if you are already suffering the problem.
  24. Hit boxes are engine controlled. You hit, or you do not. Toe shots almost always kill with 30 health, barring body armor. The exception being pistols at a distance. One of the things I hate about this so-called 'hardcore' server.
