  1. That's strange. I wasn't showing any maps yesterday either, and I was chatting with Ricko and Fireurza at the time. Ricko updated and restarted the servers right then and there, and they came back into my server list. I'm not sure why there would be a problem for you today, especially since you noted that this happened after you did the update.
  2. I'll leave it be Technicolor Friday just for you @@HarryWeezer, although Technicolor Friday just doesn't have quite the same ring to it.
  3. It's Technicolor Thursday on COD5 Server DM1 Full color maps today, not the dreary, muted colors so common in COD5. Many (too many) of the COD5 maps are dingy and have very muted color. I suppose the game authors thought it adds to the nostolgic atmosphere WWII invokes. But it wasn't all sepia tone back in the day, I can tell you that! So let's all go back to the day and see it as the soldiers did - in full color. It's Technicolor Thursday on COD5 Server DM1. The most colorful maps we have. Enjoy!
  4. There's not a problem that I can't fix. 'Cause I can do it in the mix! Away goes trouble down the drain. Away goes trouble down the drain.
  5. What a sad, sad day! REO Speedwagon lead guitarist Gary Richrath has passed at the young age of 65. Thank you, Gary for all your talent and the great guitar riffs that made REO Speedwagon an unmistakable force in music! Post your favorite REO song videos in this thread to commemorate the life and music of this amazing guitarist. Here's one of my favorites, and one of the quintessential REO tunes, for sure. I saw REO live in Milwaukee before KC joined the band, and once in Bismark, ND after he joined. Both concerts were worth their weight in gold.
  6. I really didn't know there is a video for this song until just now. But Tasmin Archer - Sleeping Satellite is actually in my Top 10 of most favorite songs of all time.
  7. Saves? What - you mean like Jesus saves?
  8. So this is you on those pills you're taking, @@JohnnyDos?
  9. You really don't want to see the spider that built this. Or do you? If not, don't look at the inset. It's a bit blurry because I really didn't want to get that close and it was dark out. He (she?) hides away in the heat of the day, but as this is very near my front door and its porch light, there's no shortage of moths, etc., for it to eat at night. But the web itself is rather magnificent, right? And last night, I actually did try to get a better picture of him. I had to go out the garage and up my porch steps to get into position. At that point he decided he really didn't want his picture taken, so he literally lept off the web, bungee jumping to the ground. Freaked me out. I left.
  10. Here's a HOT new release from Goodnight Tonight
  11. A qualification to enter retirement is to first be able to spell it, so yes, you need to go back to work now. Don't over do it on the job. You don't want a revision surgery.
  12. I'm so sorry to hear of this, @@Belted. Your sorrow is quite unmistakable, I'm sure. She, however, is free from the pain and has been made whole again. I hope there is some comfort for you in that. Be sure to take the time to take care of yourself in this difficult time for you and your son. You need to decompress and recharge now more than ever. It will get easier.
  13. Excellent! @@JohnnyDos - Excellent views of Madison. Launch point is Vilas Park on Lake Wingra. This is also where our zoo is located. You can see one of the exhibit halls clearly because of its rainbow sun-burst sculpture over the building. In the first third of the video, there are some excellent shots of St Mary's Hospital where my daughter was born. It's the tan and red-brick complex of buildings, where the largest tan building has a row of 4 massive, square windows. At one point there is a great shot of the Isthmus, and right in the center is the Wisconsin State Capital building. You can see the Capital in many of the angles as long as you know to look for it. At one point, I thought it might be a great investment to get one of these drones and use it for commercial, real estate, and special occasion photography. Sadly, as I researched it, I found that there is a growing swell of opposition to drones, right along with increasing levels of regulation. The guy operating this drone may very well have been in violation of those laws. The FAA is getting involved, and the casual and business use of drones may soon be legislated into oblivion.
  14. Do the beers first, then do the fish. Given enough beers, even a carp will look doable.
  15. Ah. Yes. From what I understand, desktop themes for Windows 10 is still only half-baked. You can use the Win8x themes, but I guess auto rotation of desktop background images is one of the features that's still in the works. Stay tuned, I guess.
  16. @ - See this article on the Num Lock thing. http://winaero.com/blog/enable-numlock-logon-screen-windows-10/ Not sure what you mean by the "desktop display time." If you mean the time before it switches to screensaver, that's under Settings -> Personalization -> Lock Screen -> Screen Saver Settings If you mean the time till Windows turns the monitor off, that's under Settings -> Personalization -> Lock Screen -> Screen Timeout Settings As for the Win 10 Start Button, might I suggest that no replacement is needed. The Win 10 Start "button" is actually one of the coolest and most customizable features of Win 10. It could use some improvements, but my guess is that it will be tweaked over time. But even with its present feature set, it completely blows all earlier Start buttons (or lack thereof) completely out of the water! I have used it to streamline my Taskbar because I like using the Start button better than having lots of inactive icons on the Taskbar. Check out this video on customizing the Start Menu for some cool suggestions:
  17. And if you cannot plug in another computer, what does pingplotter tell you as you ping various servers?
  18. It's been a HOT summer, and it's not over yet - Just ask anyone living in Texas (@ldoz). To beat the heat, or maybe to remind us we should enjoy the heat while we can, DM1 is running our best winter maps throughout the next heat wave. Come in and beat the heat!
  19. Musically spectacular, lyrically whimsical.
  20. I undedrstand the mechanics that produce the qport error. In nutshell, it's a crash between maps that leaves the server waiting for a reply from your computer, or in the absence thereof, it times out and drops your connection. But in the meantime, it's a qport error when another instance of the game on your computer trys to connect while the server is still waiting for your last session to respond. I posted what I believe is the setting responsible for the "regular" timeout interval - 30 seconds in your case. Labob has said something about the redirect - exactly what he's trying to tell us, idk, but then I'm stupid when it comes to trying to interpret the written word of Labob. He even posted a chunk of settings pertaining to the redirect. The only thing I thought odd was the line that reads: seta sv_wwwDlDisconnected "0" - which I believe (partly because of my interpretation of Labob's comments) should be set to "30" just like the other timeout. However, I'm unclear why a qport error should be happening that is taking longer than the 30 seconds already set. I questioned whether the long-duration qport error was happening only if the person crashed downloading a map, but the answer I think I got was, no, it happens at random. That would seen to relieve the redirect from suspicion. That takes us back to the original post I made containing the setting for the 30 second timeout. As for the maps possibly not matching the redirect, there is a "house keeping" feature of the Downloader that deletes all local maps. It forces the player to download all the maps again, but it's the only way for the layperson to make sure their maps match. I'm not all that sure that would be the problem, and I say that because I think I'm hearing that this is a widespread issue, not just one or two players. If it is so widespread, then the only way the redirect could be suspect is if someone was up there messing around with the maps and a bunch of them got corrupted. Not out of the question, but unlikely. And Labob did say an effort was put into ensuring all maps match all servers. If you suspect file corruption between servers is the root cause, do you have the tools to do a comparison? I do, but I don't want to get in the middle of your efforts. I'm interested to hear if the setting change you made worked; however, as I was writing this Gatorgirl PMed me on TS telling me Kami was just stuck in a qport error - "<17:38:36> "Gatorgirl>XI<Adm": well, kami was just on here and he is having the same problem as Blaze getting kicked between maps and can't reconnect due to duplicate port" Let me know if I can help in any way.
  21. @@Labob So are you saying these long-ass duplicate qport not resetting problems are when someone crashes during a map download? Not just a random crash that only takes 30 seconds to reset?
